  1. Of course not - it's a panfish despite the common name Just like this isn't a real sunfish, despite the common name.
  2. Was at the local Fleet Farm earlier this week - they had a whole aisle of paper magazines In addition to In Fisherman, Bass Angler and Outdoor News - there was probably a good dozen other magazines devoted to fishing in the rack.
  3. Fixed that for you. At one point or another, all fish species are cannibalistic...they'll eat smaller members of their own species.
  4. Poor Gim, having his worldview skewed by In Fisherman and their mandate to accept ALL species as legitimate targets. My heart bleeds. 🤣
  5. Nope - my second set of keys is fully functional and does not have a fob on the ring....I just have to manually unlock doors with the key - you know, like the old days. Personally - I'd find a way to make sure that the physical key needs to be in the ignition to start the vehicle....this 'hand wavium' method of running your vehicle goes a little too far IMHO. Some days I want my old '84 Cherokee back....I could do ALL the maintenance myself on that baby.
  6. I use 1/12oz Kastmasters for my Crappie fishing. Bass spoons I pretty much stick with Johnson Silver Minnows.
  7. [tosses a flash-bang into your corner] I still love my 'fairy wands'
  8. When I built Bass Trek I wanted the charger close to the fuse box which I'd placed mid-ships. Red circle is around the hatch over the electrical compartment and the NOCO plug that lets me plug in the charger without having to open the compartment Looking in the compartment at the charger. The batteries themselves? Starting battery is in the stern near the motor; TM and 'house' batteries are up front near the TM and under the Sonar. Charging cables are zip-tied to the frame under the deck.
  9. Reverse that for me - I love my Tatula 100s and my Miravels. Bad - nope....not saying the name, I'd like to stay able to post and not start a fight. Good - I'm a St Croix fan-boy....I don't find the heavier power rods all that tip-heavy. - Ned is one of my favorite presentations, followed by Shakey and Wacky
  10. Well, facing a bear (polar, grizzly, what-have-you) I'd rather have the faster firing rate of a 30-30 saddle rifle than the one-shot impact power of a bolt-action 30-06, 308, 300. And the 5+1 standard mag capacity over the 4 standard capacity of the larger calibers doesn't hurt either.
  11. I hear you there - I sometimes put on a sweatshirt over my t-shirt in the house cause I'm chilled, while at the same time my 5-1/2 year younger wife turns on the fan cause she's 'too warm'. (silently screams to the ether about the unfairness of it).
  12. When the warranty runs out, whether it seems to need replacing or not...and I pay the slight extra for 5-year batteries.
  13. Oh - I don't have to worry about that - only thing my key-fob does is lock/unlock the doors. Personally I'd just disable the remote-start if I got a new vehicle that had it...pull the fuse from the block that powers the remote-start function.
  14. You're looking for the Mustangs labeled "HIT"...H for 'Hydrostatic' - the ones marked "MIT" are the water activated ones...M for 'Membrane'. My Onyx A/M-24 is MIT technology.
  15. I don't use one for my key-fob - but I do use a Faraday wallet for my credit/debit cards.
  16. Seal hunting was and still is done in kayaks - whale hunting has always been in 4-man umiaks....but ya, they do open ocean hunting in kayaks.
  17. ^ What Joe said - disarming/blocking/de-activating the auto feature is a BAD idea. I've had my A/M-24 for several years now - it's never gone off accidentally even in the rain....I put my rain jacket over it to keep it 'safe'. Never stored in the boat, always comes inside when the boat is parked. I retro-fitted an ECOS onto my 1973 Evinrude and if the motor is running, the kill switch is attached to me. I know it's not legally required, but I personally think every motor should be retro-fitted...then USE the bloody thing as it's intended.
  18. Tom makes a good point - start with your personal confidence color, then try others. Me - Green pumpkin/black flake is my #1 Watermelon/red flake is my follow up Junebug is #3 if all else fails - PB&J
  19. I'd figure that was a no brainer - considering a certain Lake Commandos episode 😁
  20. I made a bit of money my senior HS year and my 2 college years in Bemidji offering my services for rig/tackle/small item retrieval in the local lakes. It's how I financed my SCUBA gear after I got my certification.
  21. I've got the prior model of this, Columbia Glennaker Lake II Rain Jacket, and it's not only kept me dry in downpours, but it's lightweight and I don't get overheated even on warm, rainy days.
  22. If I had the money - I had to finance my Echomap 93sv over 2 years...no way I could afford to add FFS to that in the time I have left.
  23. That's about the same thing that I remember hearing when the first LCD sonars came out late 70s/early 80s I'm sure Tom ( @WRB ) can tell similar stories when Lowrance and Vexilar put out the first flashers in the late 50s/ early 60s. Every time there's a leap in fishing electronics - there's nay-sayers saying how it's gonna ruin fishing.
  24. They are close, but the spotteds have smaller & more numerous spots.
