  1. Ya - I got an older style, but I've upgraded the Incandescent bulb to LED...I hate getting older.
  2. Look at the St Croix Black Bass series....I picked one up and I'm pretty impressed with it. If I was 'sticking around' longer, I'd probably replace the remaining rods in my lineup that aren't St Croix with this series.
  3. Unfortunately, that's pretty much the typical lakeshore view on Minnetonka. This is just a small stretch of lakeshore within 3 blocks of my modest <1000 sq-ft place. Now Tonka has 125 miles of shoreline - but parks, restaurants, golf courses etc probably take up 1/2 of that....so figure on 60-65 miles of this kind of image.
  4. I always have at least 3 blades on me. First is a Leatherman OG that I've had forever (left front pocket with my keys), second is a locking knife with a 1.5" blade (right front pocket with nail clippers, 6' tape measure, box of Altoids smalls, loose change), last one is a razor-knife (right cargo pocket with notebook, pen and pencil).
  5. With FC you usually want to drop a class in strength to mitigate memory issues. 2500 reel - keep it to 8# or less 3000 reel - max of 10# If you want to use 12#+ - go to a casting rig. KVD L&L is what I use on everything except braid to make line more manageable.
  6. Can't say that I have - wife and I never had kids....
  7. When it's got a bit of a sheen ("Shiny") At the rate I'm going through it - my 1oz tin of Cals would probably last till the mid 2030's....gears and drags both get it....so I'm not using much at all for a single reel.
  8. I just used some scrap I had laying around to make a setup like that..
  9. Only thing I can think of is get a can of Rustoleum Clear Acrylic spray and lock it down with that....otherwise I'm lost.
  10. Yep - for the same reason....more you're into the spool, the less line you pick up per handle turn. Course at the ranges you're usually casting spinning rigs, it's not THAT much of a difference. Add to the fact that spinning spools are base-line wider, so the drop in IPT is less than that of casting reels.
  11. The JDM Miravels I got are around 5.0:1 . The USDM 'HG' models are 6.2:1 and run as high as 35.8ipt for the 3000 model....that's faster than my 'ultra speed' punching reel.
  12. Length of vinyl tubing of proper diameter cut into 1/2"-2/3" lengths, 'nasal speculum' - way to duplicate the G7 or Arsenal rigging bands and tools.....at a fraction of the cost. How come when someone puts 'Fishing' in front of inexpensive and easily obtainable items....they can charge 3x-4x the price - and people pay it 'happily'?
  13. I keep track of mine just so I know - but I specifically purchased the JDM versions that range from 26ipt to 29ipt. Above that, IMO is just ridiculous...and what's with the massive capacity of the spools now-days too? There is no need for a spool that holds 500yds of 6# test for freshwater fishing.
  14. I usually want to carry more than even a 4x3600 Plano Weekender can fit....and I found this one. https://rodeel.com/collections/bag/products/fishing-tackle-bag Fits 6x3600 boxes in main compartment (more if you use 3601-slims), 1x3600 box in front zip pocket and 1x3600 box in the 'top tray' held in place by bungee cord (or 2x3601). Molle attachments on front, slim pocket between those and the 3600 pocket for a few packets of plastics, left side narrow pockets will hold 2xBerkley jars each, right side pocket will hold what tools I need, and another slim pocket in front of that, and there's a rear slim pocket for more plastics if you want. Hard base, metal clips for the shoulder-strap....it really is a nice bag and has served me well for 4 years now and is still in great condition.
  15. Cannnot Emphasize This Enough
  16. I have no issues getting into even the small spaces on 80 size BCs or 1000 size spinners with the 3/8" brushes to place grease. What ever works for you, man.
  17. Trash after each session - you can get a few reels done with each brush and at $0.16 each, it's a no brainer.
  18. I actually prefer Acid Brushes....nice, short, fairly stiff bristles that let me apply the grease exactly where I want it.
  19. Where have I seen something like that before? Oh - right....my brother-in-law when he was working on a new song (he's the one on the drums)
  20. Keeping you in mind, Dwight as I travel my own road with the 'Big C'. Actually, had mid-plan CT scan yesterday, and it's already showing shrinkage of both the lung and adrenal gland 'invaders'....two more rounds of Chemo then I get a PET scan to really see what's going on.
  21. Despite having more expensive rods in my lineup, I still use a couple Aird-X rods...definitely fish above their price-point.
  22. I hate what Nora's gonna have to go through when I exit this plain and she's gotta deal with my leavings. I've lived in this same house for 39 years...you guess how much I've accumulated in that time.
  23. No help here - I don't get sea-sick. Nora's and my honeymoon was on a cruise ship. Fourth day out we caught the edge of a hurricane - she was doped to the gills, laying in the bed in our cabin moaning....I was walking the decks. 😁
  24. So far, so good - one more shot this week (today)...a white blood cell booster, then a CT scan tomorrow to see if there's any effect from the two rounds. 2 More rounds scheduled and a PET scan later in June....then we see how it's really doing. Little nausea, but my appetite hasn't suffered too much. Wife bought me a guided trip since I don't think I'll get Bass Trek in the water this year...so prepping it for sale. Trip is with a guy I've followed for a few years now and we've interacted on his YouTube and Facebook accounts - so should be interesting
  25. I've hit the limit - now that I have a time-table...the monkey glared at me and ran off...probably to pound more on the rest of you.
