  1. Local shop that does maintenance on Pflueger reels.
  2. My frog reel is a Fuego CT - held up fine now for 4 years.
  3. Probably just a spring clearance - moving out last year's stock so they can get fresh in...not that it matters with braid.
  4. They haven't officially declared Tonka to be ice-free yet - but there's plenty of boats already out fishing.
  5. This is what drew me in back in the 70s. I fished streams up in northern MN for trout and always got a thrill when I caught one on a fly that I'd tied. Got out of it when the AF dumped me in Omaha for four years, and never got back into it. Trust me - it takes LOTS of practice to get that fly even close to your target. Spinning and casting rigs are simple to place lures on target compared to dropping that fly exactly where you want it.
  6. I could target them from the shore using finesse tactics....but it's illegal to target them for another 46 days here.
  7. I've eaten them - they're not too different from any other panfish....my mom loved them, preferred them over bluegill or crappie.
  8. I'm doing about average for me at this point in the season...in the top 10 for the group, but if years past are any indication, I'll drop like a rock later on. 🫣
  9. Another option is the St Croix Black Bass...I've gifted almost all my Furys to a friend's son and the 7'1" MH/F Black Bass I got is lighter and more responsive than my old Fury 704C could ever hope to be at only $10 more.
  10. Exact same one I have - it goes on when I launch, doesn't come off until I land...even in Bass Trek.
  11. Psst....Gim.....find a pond close to home ( I know there's some around your area) or something between work and home and do some shore fishing....you can catch decent ones from the shore around here you know.... @Catt "I said yeah but you won't let me stock the baptistry!" - what a way to get the younger generation's 'feet wet' for fishing. 😂
  12. Been a bit crazy here, and my ankle has been acting up, so not as much progress as I'd want, but still progress. What's left is putting the chain on and tensioning it, mounting a battery box and putting a pair of 12v AGMs in it, routing wiring from the control box on the handle to the battery box and motor, and building the 'archway' for the hitch-ball - which is the most time consuming of all those.
  13. Weightless plastics for me is always on spinning - whether it's wacky, T-Rig worms or flukes. Depending on the weight it's on either my 7'1" M/F St Croix Mojo or my 7'3" ML/XF St Croix Panfish (yes, I use it for bass) .
  14. It's a panfish, not much different from bluegills or crappie....if I catch a slab rockie, I'm posting it!
  15. For Dobyns, I'd suggest a Sierra 703SF, though personally I'd pick a St Croix Black Bass 7'1" M/F. Reel - Shimano Miravel 2500 - get the Japanese import version, it's a bit slower than the USDM 2500HG, but at 29IPT I find it to be about the perfect speed for weightless plastics. $114.50 at Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Shimano-Miravel-Spinning-Reel-Japan/dp/B0BHDF4QLT/ref=sr_1_4?crid=FRC7X4BFURW9&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.KALjpPXnoArJXKZIA3r0QTF8DoCToc_ysiYm6FFrD-6e-ENZ3D_FAXH3wwyWuQ1PWFQbfkyx_U-dHB_mdlilEaQlR5cw-S-y1EHPxGMJiaoO6mlUiFpURlMdDTLE7P7MwVUfgbaVH0lXkqeUWWBaFXgkAldo5gbUjMdV8yD8Al4W-7q1qPUjjdwBZjcaWSy68R6VcfaQEJk18VJSqjFnvmvDELwzWfE_yneoad7orngDwKxRpjE8kc_oJ42jqvHx-Jl8DeEEn_1FrquTI06SQyk3lBiNU9tcyUKKfKIsNdKWEZHaI39I4IslH9nXtRsmHWR9Olb8XEw324u2xSrLoclpmG6GPnwSc-_kliPcWGk.niTqidhX6ZsHGqvdMPgqjTA4BL9THqjiNavRJFf8rFE&dib_tag=se&keywords=Shimano+MIRAVEL&qid=1742701382&s=sporting-goods&sprefix=shimano+miravel%2Csporting%2C173&sr=1-4
  16. Upload to YouTube and post link.
  17. I'm thinking my guess of 22 April was too conservative. Currently, several shore spots are open for business, with only Black Lake lagging a little...though a couple days may see that fixed. The way things are going on Tonka, we may see ice-out declared by the end of the month.
  18. They're running this again? Well, similar. Couple weeks ago it was 'Free Sevin reel with purchase of retired Mojo Bass rod'....ya, I got in on that as it was my preferred round-handled rod and not the Trigon.
  19. Fantastic news Catt....here's to continual improvement and to enjoying life again..
  20. We have chance of snow tomorrow - back to the 50s for Friday...then more snow on Sunday Follow the bouncing ball.....
  21. Well past time IMO
  22. Considering your background, Crow - I agree...it's not a superstition in your case...just part of the normal practices of your belief system and I respect that you honor the spirits in that way.
  23. Omnia has 25% of all Yamamoto baits through the 25th
