  1. If you're doing A-Rigs - I'd go no lower than 20# Flourocarbon/Mono/Hybrid or just run 40#-50# straight braid. Top of my head? Yum Flash Mob Jr - 3"-3.5" Keitech Easy Shiner - 2.8-3.8 Kalin Tickle Tails - 4" Kalin Jerk Minow - 2.75 Zoom Boot Tail - 4" Zoom Fluke All either weightless or on 1/16oz jig heads (suggest Kalin Triple Threat for those)
  2. They're feisty even in calm waters - shortnose gar are a pretty fish.
  3. Seth is a no-brainer for me. Most of his off-season vids are shot on the lake I live by and fish regularly.
  4. I'm partial to G-Man, but Hack does place up there. An opinion I share - I avoid Randy as much as possible.
  5. Sometimes I wish the SunTours on my old bike had that feature (1975 Bridgestone Kabuki Super-Light - which I still have and am tuning up to give to the eldest grand-daughter)
  6. Took you this long to break it in? (my 2001 Silverado 5.3 has 240k on it.)
  7. Gods - I remember doing that when we'd vacation in either Sandwich or Yarmouth...when it was Sandwich I'd also fish the canal.
  8. Check out Steve Rogers then - 70% of his are on bass behavior, the other 30% are bait comparisons to show you how they act - either action or color visibility in different conditions. He still lets you make your own decisions.
  9. And of course that changes based on the braid - Power Pro original, Sufix 832 and Seaguar Smackdown all sound different even on the same rod.
  10. And bicycle derailleurs - which are also pretty much only offered in black and silver....gotta go 3rd party to get some 'bling' for them.
  11. 1: Check to see if Omnia has done their 'wall' test. They actually put rods up and bend them against a wall with graph-lines to see the rod's limberness 2: Test them yourself - either at home if you own both, or in a store that carries both.
  12. I have only two reels that aren't black or silver (I got a couple bright silvers in addition to the dark silvers) Those are my President XT SE that I got from BPS - $100 reels that were on special for $50. They're dark red...almost maroon...so they're not 'eye-bleed' like some reels I've seen....and they're going to be gifted to the adoptive grandson - so they won't be in my inventory for much longer.
  13. Same here - learned swimming the Boys Club when I was 6-7, took to it like a fish to water (snicker) Got my SCUBA certification when I was 17 - actually was a volunteer on the SAR unit up north for a couple years. I still wear my PFD when on a boat - all the time...never know when something will happen. I don't think it will change - you remember how hard people fought the seat-belt law? It was a madhouse...and there's still people who get cited for not wearing it, pay the fine, and continue to not wear it.
  14. Every spinning rig I own is braid to leader From the MH/F that rated up to 1-3/8oz - 20# 832 to 12# InvizX. To my UL/F that's rated down to 1/32oz - 6# Revolve to 4# Siege.
  15. People with more money than sense. Some of the owners of lakeshore on Minnetonka Cargill and MacMillan families (6-7 different families/houses) - Owners of Cargill Inc - one of the largest privately owned companies in the world. Quite a few members of the Twins, Vikings, Timberwolves, Wild A number of corporate Presidents/CEOs/CFOs of Minnesota based companies including General Mills, 3M, Target, Best Buy, Hormel, Land O'Lakes And various other people who've 'made it big'.
  16. I got taught safe boating by an expert - I think even you'll agree he was qualified, Andy Grand-uncle JW
  17. Mustaches are cool - me about 40 years ago.
  18. That channel is a no-brainer - everyone should have it top of their list. You're just feeling a little lonely, dude
  19. Just get him this and be done with it YES - THEY STILL MAKE AND SELL THIS - $42
  20. I still pull my Shallow Shad Raps out regularly - and the Jointed Shallow Shad Raps for a bit more action.
  21. A semi-local guy (WI) who gives lots of tips/tricks in a 5-6 minute format - Steve Rogers And of course my really local guy who gives weekly reports of the local fishing including what's working...and who I've got a couple outings scheduled with - Matt Johnson
  22. Beats a lot of others hands down - and the deals they occasionally have for it are a no brainer. I got the Pro membership for $50 - my sign-up bonus was a $25 gift-certificate and about $30 of lures and plastics....so really they paid me to join up. Maybe it helps that I'm a Silver-Level Ambassador cause of the fishing reports I've filed with them....
  23. As CbF said.....layers - layers - layers Cold days I have 3-4 layers depending Base layer of snug thermals Lightweight shirt that's well fitted and a pair of cargo pants Hoodie and maybe sweat-pants over the cargos. If it's windy/raining - rain pants and jacket that are also windproof...not baggy, size to fit Ya - Type 2 PFDs aren't meant to be worn during activities, they really get in the way. Either MIT (if water reaches the trigger, it inflates - Onyx A/M 24 is such) or HIT (takes a sudden increase in pressure on the trigger to trip it - Mustang Elites are this type) inflatables would be better if you plan on keeping your PFD on all the time.
