If I got a restaurant I usually say makers or knob. It’s available, affordable, easy to communicate, and a good flavor profile. At home I will use whatever I have that’s cheaper. I mainly buy bottles in the $50-70 range but try to keep some decent budget bottle on hand for cocktails such as Grandad, 101, or Makers. At home I also make my own brown sugar simple syrup and go very light on bitters if I use them at all. I make a modified old fashioned often with a pour of Russell’s with 2 cherries and half teaspoon or so of syrup that I really enjoy.

I’m not mechanic or expert. But buying used Id go for the V8. That 5.0 is as rock solid as you’ll find outside of the water pump issues. Turbo motors will last a long time if taken care of but have a lot of seals that can cause problems if you neglect the oil. Also carbon buildup can be a problem which is why I tried to always use Exxon, chevron, or shell gas that has detergents added because you can’t eliminate carbon buildup once it’s there. Some will say it doesn’t matter but with anything mechanical I always try to go overboard. Also my opinion is turbo motors need to be used hard. Babying them causes problems it seems. Spooling it up and climbing the RPMs will help clean everything out. If your budget is $40k you may want to look at new before buying used. They’re struggling to move inventory and ford usually has 2.9 interest for 72 months vs the 6-10% you’ll get on used car. You can probably get a 4wd STX for around $50k and with the interest rates the payment will be about the same. And you’ll have a warranty, peace of mind, and zero miles

My f150 2.7 has 182k miles on it and only mechanical work has been water pump replacement. I bought it new and have ran named brand gas majority of its life and full synthetic oil. Have had a few random issues such as fuses and replacing the multifunction switch 3 times because the wipers wouldn’t turn off. Other than that just routine maintenance such as brakes, tires, shocks, etc According to the onboard computer it’s gotten 21.2 mpg for its life but I’m not sure how accurate it really is.

The new Chinese rods are just as good if not better and Falcon still stands behind their rods with a great warranty program. I understand the buying American made train of thought but it’s still an American owned small business. They haven’t sold out or been acquired to my knowledge. Most USA made rods still use foreign components. For instance Fugi is owned in Japan and produced in China. If that matters though look at ALX. They make a great product

Depends. I’d say $100 just because the 70 MGL is probably $150 in same condition. But I don’t think $125 is necessarily unfair

I love the zillion and own several. It’s amazing. However the Elite does “perform” better in situations and has a deeper spool. It’s a great caster and gets more distance but not quite as controllable or smooth on the retrieve.

I did not like Invisx over 12lbs. Abrasx feels like casting barbed wire. I used Sniper 16lb for a year and like it but had to use a lot of conditioner and it curled on me quickly. Tough line though and it casted well when conditioned. Also used Tatsu 17lb for almost 2 years and was very happy. I had a couple knot issues but were probably my fault. It still needed splashes of conditioner each outing. At last I bought a couple packs of 15lb Trilene 100% and am on year 2 without a single spray of conditioner. Have not had a single break off or knot issue. I’m not going back. Point is you may have to try and see. Everyone likes a different line

I have a whole speed bag dedicated to Berkley Power Worms. It’s been my most productive bait last several years. Only 2 colors I throw are purple and black grape.

No experience with that rod. First impression is 7’8 is long for a frog rod and Dobyns 4 power is weak for a frog rod. I’m sure you could make it work if needed or if you just frog in occasion.

The problem you’ll run into is if those baits sit in the box for a couple days the tails will get bent and they won’t swim the same after. I keep them in the clam shell since they are not cheap and I can’t afford to toss out bent tails. If you have to fish out of a tackle box Id only take a few with me each outing and if any are left over stick them back in clam shell when you get home.

If you use the JB Weld epoxy make sure to do it outside. That stuff is brutal. Also make sure it’s mixed incredibly well if it comes in the 2 part tube. I used it and had trouble getting it to harden. Started over a few days later and squeezed a large portion into a cup and stirred it really well and it’s held since. It’s not super pretty though. Like others have mentioned it is very thick

My 2015 F150 has 180k miles on it. After the warranty expired I have changed my own every 7-10k miles or whenever the computer says to. I only use pennzoil or Valvoline full synthetic. I know quite a few engineers who say not to exceed 7k miles but so far I haven’t had issues with this particular motor yet. I think if you drive a lot it’s fine to surpass 7k miles as long as the oil is topped off and you change it a few times a year.

I very rarely “pop” a Pop Max. Just twitch it left and right really slow pausing around cover. Some days I steady walk it like a spook. Just depends on the day.
