I love my helium but wouldn’t put it in the class of those other 2

I ran into a real bass fisherman last weekend. An old coonie. Wasn’t @Catt . At least I don’t think ?. Ol’ boy was working that rod tip going from stump to stump. We finally crossed paths and talked a bit. I commented on his Junebug ribbon tail and he smiled and said if they didn’t like his worm than he better just go to the house cause that’s all he fishes. At the end of the day he had caught twice as many as any other boat

I think I still have a container of them somewhere from long ago. Who knows if they are still good

I still have some old school Strike King Denny Bauer flipping tubes at the house. One of the good guys

Some are probably in shallow water structure and the rest on deeper points, ledges, road beds, etc

We get a lot of tornados here’s in MS. What makes ours dangerous is you can’t see them. Between the rolling hills and pines you typically hear it before you see it. Which is usually too late. I’ve been lucky to avoid a few by hauling butt after the sky immediately turned orange and got still. When it goes completely still and the birds are all gone you know to get the heck out of there

Aim small, miss small. Accuracy puts more fish in the boat. Also learn how to ease the bait in the water and not make a ruckus.

Be careful assuming baits that cost $10+ have quality components. Many do not. There are also some dirt cheap baits that come with nice hooks.

I’ve used a lot of rods from different manufacturers but I found one that clearly separates itself from the others. It’s the Kistler KLX 6’9” MH mod-fast. I bought this rod specifically for squarebills and shallow cranks after struggling for years to find one that lived up to my expectations. The KLX rose to the challenge. I’ve been throwing it for several months now and can’t put it down. It’s super light and balanced weighing only 3.4 ounces. The tip is the perfect amount of softness and blends beautifully into a nice strong backbone. Fit and finish are also flawless. Its not not cheap (around $250) but if you are in the market for the perfect squarebill rod I cannot recommend this rod enough. It also handles medium cranks, topwater and jerkbaits extremely well.

They are nice and worth the money. Love mine This is the large bag maxed out

I don’t need no stinkin scale to tell me my 4 pounder in actually 2.8. But I have the $40 rapala and it works just fine.

7’1” would be my choice. But it’s a personal preference.

I dont care where it’s made, the Lews LFS is a dang good reel for around $80. But that’s about where I draw the line in the sand.

At the entry level price point I don’t think there’s a dimes worth of difference between most aluminum body reels from any of the major manufacturers. Shimano and daiwa separate from the pack once you start moving towards higher end equipment.

I have several rods between 6’8” and 6’10”. It’s actually my favorite length to thrown jerk baits, squarebills, hard topwater, swimjigs, senkos, smaller spinnerbaits, and lighter t-rigs

Generally I fish a chatterbait from winter through spawn and swim jig from post spawn to winter. Pulling a swim jig through thick pads during the summer is some of my favorite fishing. The blowups can be unreal

The Cara is one of my favorite rod lines. But lately I’ve been buying Kistler rods. Their blanks are made by Gary Loomis in Washington. Actions are similar to the Cara.

I don’t have a problem with Doyo. They produce good reels at a fair price. 10+ years ago anything under $150 was crap. My biggest issue is some of these brands having 20 different baitcasting reels in their product line. It’s not needed
