Why I Don't Buy Tackle From Ebay
I don’t understand a lot of ebay sells. More often than not people pay more for used items on eBay than new items on other sites. I literally just watched a used kistler rod go for more than the same rod brand new on kistlers website. Yesterday a used Curado K went for $10 more than new ones from other ebay sellers. I stopped selling on ebay because their fees ate up nearly all of the profit margin

The End of Senko Slinging
If senkos are catching fish then don’t stop. Figure out when the bait is most effective and try other baits in time periods that aren’t quite as effective. There’s nothing “beginner” about one of the most transcendent baits to ever hit the market. There’s a reason why pros carry them by the gallon. But if you can fine tune your fishing to throw multiple baits that produce throughout the entire day at your lake then you will increase your odds of having spectacular days. It’s always a plus to have a confidence bait to fall back on during those tougher conditions

Kistler He3 or ALX Zolo?
To me kistler is Barry Sanders and ALX is Jerome Bettis. Both are great rods from even better companies.

"Plopping" Topwaters
WPs have worked when buzzbaits didn’t and vice versa. Just another tool in your box. No reason not to have it at your disposal

Helium 3 vs Klx
H3 for jigs and worms. KLX for moving baits

Over thinking
Early summer last year I took a right and a guy I know took a left. He caught 50 plus and I caught zero. Finding the fish is always the key. Especially on fisheries like mine where the fish move all over the place depending on the current and where the Shad decide to go

Carbon drag washers
If using in freshwater there’s no reason to grease or oil then. That’s my understanding at least

Texas Rig Rods?! Medium vs MH
Also depends on the thickness of your hook. If it’s light wire then medium is fine. But if you’re throwing a heavy wire then MH is the bare minimum IMO. I use a medium for shakey heads all the time. ML for neko and drop shot. Match your rod to line, hook, and weight.

Avid X vs ALX Zolo Deputy (or others?)
Everyone has a personal preference. I own ALX, St Croix, and Dobyns among others. Personally I don’t care for either of the 3 as a t-rig or jig rod. St croix and ALX are tip heavy. Dobyns is balanced amazingly and is super comfortable but lacks the sensitivity I look for. The higher end Falcons and Kistlers check the box for me

MLF Starts This Saturday!
Are they airing new episodes on WFN? The press releases said it would be on the Outdoor channel. But the Dish guide shows episode 1 on Outdoor Channel and episode 2 airing on WFN. And Dish is offering the outdoor package with both channels for $2/month for 6 months.

Moses
My parents live on a 11 acre lake and one bass has become a friend of mine. I’ve caught her probably a dozen times. The first time she was around 4 pounds. Last year she was just shy of 8. She has spawned under the same Cyprus tree every year since about 2007. And craw baits really tick her off!! She’s an old girl now and each year I expect her to have not made it through the winter

Is fishing good during a hot winter day?
Generally the warm days are just before a front moves in. They will be more active until the temp starts dropping rapidly as the front moves through. The blue sky days following the front are usually tough for me

Spinnerbait fishermen
Spinnerbaits are the most versatile lure in your box. You can modify the same lure to do whatever you need. Understanding how different blades produce certain flash, water displacement, vibration, lift/sink, spin speed, etc if a daunting task but is certainly fruitful. Small changes to match your conditions can be the difference in catching a 3 and 20. There’s a reason some of the most successful fishermen are also the best spinnerbait fisherman. They catch fish all 4 seasons, day, night, clear water, and murky water coast to coast.

Jerkbait rod recommendations
You want a rod short enough to control and rip but long enough to give you a nice tip. I use a 6’8” medium extra fast. St croix and Shimano make excellent jerk bait rods. While extra fast they still have enough flex in the back bone. You don’t want a pool cue or noodle.

6’0” vs 6’6”
I don’t think you lose much control going to a 6’6” rod. It’s still fairly short and controllable. From my experience accuracy doesn’t take a dip until you hit the 7 foot mark and even then with enough casting it is still very accurate. I have all different lengths and my 6’10” is the most accurate. 6’8” is up there too.
