Mississippi Man looking for Bass!
I’m from the area but I don’t hand my spots out to bulldogs. Jk. The only banks I’ve had success from are private. Def need a boat for Ross Barnett. Fishing areas on the pearl are loaded with 10 ft gators so keep your eyes peeled

I haven’t been able to watch. What’s the #1 bait so far? Chatterbait? Jerkbait?

Do people want too much $$$ for used gear?
90% of used gear is too much but the other 10% is worth it. In the last year I’ve picked up a Falcon Cara, ALX Ikos, and Revo STX for $75 each. They were all like new and local. Facebook marketplace has been much better than Ebay or craigslist for me.

Help a 2nd-Year Angler Build 3 Setups Covering All/the Majority of Presentations
I used to wear them out with only two setups. A 6’6 MH fast and a 6’0” medium fast. If if I had to do 3 setups today it would look like this: 1. 7’3” Heavy fast. 2. 6’10” MH fast 3. 6’8” M modfast 1 covers jigs, punching, frogs, etc. 3 for lighter lures, shallow cranks, jerkbaits, topwater. 2 for everything else

The latest sale thread
Popped in my Academy today and they didn’t have squat. Talked to a worker and said when something is marked down it gets bought up within the hour. Just have to get lucky. Too many fishermen in MS for deals to sit on the shelf

Dustin Connell has only caught one fish today and he is sharing a condo with Wheeler and MDJ who both advanced yesterday. So that if Connell received tips they ain’t helping him lol

Plenty of wives are eager for those big paychecks. Burner phones make it easy. Just like college football recruiting

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Received a Kistler KLX 6’9” Rip and Crank yesterday. Ive been throwing shallow cranks on a terrible $30 Browning glass rod for the last 8 years. Seriously probably the worst rod I’ve ever owned. It was due for an upgrade. I’m also going to use the rod for chatterbaits, topwater, spinners, swim jigs, etc

Your fishing style
I’m a shallow water power fisherman. I like to move fast hitting spots. I do fish a lot of jigs and plastics but its almost always directed at cover and I rarely work either a full cast. That’s my weakness and I’m actively trying to improve my deep water game. But I’m surrounded by shallow water lakes and resorvoirs so there’s never been a reason to fish anything deep. Also my boats electronics are old and suck which makes it much tougher

Age of your rods and reels?
I’ve expanded my lineup the last 2-3 years but still fish several old Energy PTs that are 15+ years old.

Swapping out crank bait treble hooks
I found some dirt cheap trebles on eBay from China that are actually very good quality. Sharp and sturdy https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F201813166191

Dobyns Rods
Dobyns are great moving bait rods and very comfortable to fish. They have really nice soft tips. St. Croix really excels in spinning rods and their sweet spot is in lighter powers. I’ve sold all my St. Croix over medium. Their only casting rod I have left is a jerkbait rod that I absolutely love. I’ve transitioned most of my heavier casting rods to kistler and falcons

What size braid should I try on my spinning reel?
I use 10lb power pro yellow

Fantasy Fishing 2019 - Official Thread
I picked Hubnall. Randomly started following him in social media a few years ago and am rooting for him

What time of day did you catch your PB?
Just fish all day everyday

What time of day did you catch your PB?
My top 10 were all caught after 2 pm. Apparently I’m a terrible morning fisherman

Wider/fatter vs longer
One thing seems certain from my experience. Clear water bass feed visually even when the water dirties up. Murky water fish feed off sound and vibration even when the water gets clear. Im also a big believer that fatter trailers are better for nearly every skirted bait. It helps push out the skirt and seems to increase the pulsating effect.

Lets talk cheap gear
Different levels of gear help different levels of fisherman. More advanced anglers get more out of higher end gear. The golf comparison is the best. A pro v1 isn’t going to help a 20 handicap spin a wedge. It will make all the difference to a scratch golfer though. Now at some level it becomes an enthusiast item where the gains are so minimal the price difference is just for pure pleasure. Some guys like knowing they have the absolute best so they can say without a doubt the problem is them not the gear. Confidence comes into play as well. Bottom line is find the gear that is allows you to perform at your best whether that’s a $50 rod or $200. You are always the most important factor though. The rod and reel is just an extension of you.

The Road To The Super Bowl 2019
Hard being a saints fan. Conspiracy all week was refs wanted LA and NE in super bowl because of the big markets. The missed PI call was the most egregious no call I’ve ever seen

Let's talk Tubes
Catfish love tubes. I’ve caught several 8+ lbs over the years. Tubes are still one of my favorite winter time baits. I usually t-rig it on a 3/0 hook and 1/8 oz bullet with a shallow skin hook. Then drag it on the bottom and hop it over cypress stumps. Not many other folks here in MS throw tubes and I believe it’s in my advantage. Similar sized creature baits have too much action when the water drops into the 40s
