  1. I think you’ll be good on those colors for a while
  2. Don’t buy cheap. I bought a set of 9 husky precision drivers and they are garbage
  3. Side note: Stanley wedge is the most underrated spinner bait on the market. It’s been my go to for many years
  4. The neat thing about ALX is you can call and Alex will be the one answering the phone and will spend how ever long he needs to answer your questions. You don’t get that everywhere.
  5. I’ve never understood why people are drawn to the Mach series when the LFS is often cheaper and a much better reel with an aluminum body.
  6. Finesse has a light wire hook and typically a lighter head. It’s made to throw on lighter line and rods in clearer water.
  7. I don’t care for most st croix rods over a medium power. I do really like some of their rods for certain applications though. The fury is a great rod for moving baits. The 4 power is very versatile for baits in that 3/8 to 3/4 oz range. Build quality on both are are top notch
  8. How big of a guy are you? The extra 6 inches will come with more fatigue. The industry standard is 7’6” but each persons preference is a bit different. A longer rod will help with hooksets and getting the bass out of thick stuff. But endurance and accuracy are the two most important factors. My general opinion on pitching (and flipping) is start off shorter and go longer after you learn the technique
  9. My go to jig setup 7’3” kistler Helium heavy 40 Lb power pro 1/2 oz custom made flipping jig rage menace trailer but I fish heavy cover and pads in shallow water
  10. If you want to start trying it with your current gear, grab a couple strike king bitsy bugs and attach a small trailer. I’ve caught many bass from the bank on these using medium rods and 12 lb mono. It will let you get a taste for it before buying a bunch of gear.
  11. Not funny I love bank fishing local private lakes and ponds. Have caught many good fish that way. However my local large fishery basically requires a boat form an access perspective. And there are 10-12 foot gators in every fishing hole. Some will swim right up to you.
  12. Line counters are 10-15 bucks
  13. I like my Tatulas but the twing is not ideal for leader knots if you throw leaders. For under $100 retail the Lews LFS is the best I’ve thrown. I like the Revo SX and STX but they require a bit more thumb than my Lews or daiwa. The new SLX looks like a really nice $100 option as well. Haven’t tried it yet though If you are looking for durability and a reel that will last 10 years then I’d possibly look to spend a little more and get in that $150 msrp range.
  14. I have a dedicated jig rod that goes with me 100% of the time and couldn’t imagine not having it. It’s a heavier rod than I would ever use for my normal t-rig applications. It’s dependent on weight though. I typically throw 1/8 oz t-rig and 1/2 oz jigs. To me it’s not ideal using the same power rod for both
  15. Just remove trebles from some old hard bait you don’t care about
  16. Jerkbait, spook, small spinnerbaits. Could also throw shaky heads and senkos
  17. Academy has the Revo X and AllStar Nano rod combo for $119.
  18. I don’t know if I’ve ever had a bass bend a 3/0 hook or larger. If the hook didnt penetrate the senko is it possible the fish just grabbed the end of the bait end of the bait and pulled away from you. If you are both pulling opposite directions on a linear plane the hook might not have the angle to expose itself. Just a thought.
  19. This. Mono is cheap and I love the feeling of fresh line.
  20. My personal opinion is its simply a marketing scheme and most weekend fisherman catch more fish with a lower gear ratio reel.
  21. I have the same rod in the Mojo and have been really liking it. I’m sure the Avid version is also nice
  22. GReb replied to Eric J's topic in Fishing Tackle
I’m in the boat that it depends on your region. The guys in the southeast consider Senkos on 12 lb line finesse. 90% of bass fishermen I know don’t even own a spinning reel.
  23. My dad likes to joke that I’ve never seen a fishing spot I didn’t like. So with that being said.....it looks good to me!!
  24. I have an arlo camera at the front door and saw the ups man drop two boxes with that big tackle warehouse logo on the side. So I know where my wife shopped at. But the curiosity is driving me crazy. She likes to fish but doesn’t know squat about the gear or baits she uses. So I’m very interested to see what she bought lol
