I love how us addicts decide to try a new lure and start off buying 8 of them lol

We had a rough year here. Due to an invasive plant the water in our reservoir was drawn down several feet and made the fishing extremely difficult. They thought it was exterminated and raised the levels back up to realize it came back immediately and now they are going to draw it down even further. Worst part is my most productive bay is where the plant is and has been shut off from boats for a year now and counting. So I spent all year finding new water and basically failed. Biggest bass I caught all year was 3 pounds. My catches in general were few and far between. Tried fishing off shore more than ever but just never could locate consistent schools. Luckily for my mental health I live on a 4 acre pond full of dinks lol

Last rod I shipped was 7’ and it cost $14 priority to ship from MS to NY The size limit is 108 inches combined length and girth

USPS priority is the way to go but they have a certain dimension requirement. A 7’ rod will fit if the right person measures it. I’ve had to try several different post offices to get it to work before but its usually around $15

Go buy a bunch of H&H spinner baits. They work and are only a buck or two so if you have to break a few off it won’t hurt so bad.

Weight does not decide if a jig is finesse or not. The hook does. The lighter wire hook, the lighter the tackle needed.

I like throwing lighter wire jigs on a relatively short rod and light light. My go to setup is a 6’10” MH with 12 lb mono.

If I had a $250 budget and was going after Shimano I’d grab a Chronarch MGL from Digitaka for $232 or step it up to Bantam MGL for $260.

I have the 3000. It’s the same exact reel as the 2500. Just different spools. What I gathered was the 2500 was intended for straight flouro and 3000 was intended for braid. I’m a novice on spinning reels but I’ve enjoyed it

@WRB wasn’t there an actual study performed several decades ago (by Berkley?) that found bass preferred plastics with no craw legs?

I throw small spinner baits on baitcasters with 12 pound mono and a 6’6” MH rod. But I throw these exclusively around heavy cover. The smaller wire spinner baits come through wood really well.

Most bass I’ve seen eat crappie were in the shallows pre spawn. Common sense would tell you they eat them year round but crappie suspend in deep water most of the year making them a tougher target for bass and also harder for us to imitate. Generally Shad patterns are close. Silvers with blue and chart do a nice job imitating Shad and small crappie. Crappie are 6-8 inches after 2 years so they get a little big for most bass to eat. I fish some great crappie lakes loaded with numbers and generally have more success with bluegill and craw colors.

Works in dirty water too when bass start pulling up prespawn as the grass and pads are just beginning to grow.

Mine is a 6’6” MH BPS Extreme. Had it since about 2002 and have caught probably a thousand fish on it. I own newer rods that cost 3x the price but this one is still my favorite

Doesn’t make a difference to me.

Between the birds and gators it can be hard to fish a frog in pads at times.
