Best chance at a 10 pounder in Kentucky or Tennessee?
Chichamauga is definitely in decline. It might still be your best shot at a DD in Tennessee. I would suggest that you drive a little further to Guntersville.

Learn The Snakes
I actually never hooked the snake. I pulled him almost completely out of the water and he either would not or could not let go of the worm. He didn't put up much of a fight but my buddy refused to net him so I never got him in the boat. I decided to just cut the line and let him have the worm. I even have pictures.

Bassmaster Kayak Series Guntersville Journal
Great write up. I’ve enjoyed reading about your adventure. I fished Guntersville a lot in the 90s when I lived in the area. I’ve thought a lot about where I would fish in a kayak. It’s a different game for sure. In my opinion a big part of tournament fishing is knowing when to stop looking for fish and start fishing for the fish you’ve found.

The original Super Rat by Lloyd Talent. Fishing history with pictures
Very cool. I used them on Guntersville in the 90s after Tallent sold to Mann’s. In the fall boats would be lined up on the main river channel throwing rats at the grass line. You own some fishing history there. Lloyd Tallent was a legend in Guntersville. Thanks for sharing the photos.

As a fellow member of the Under 100 HP Ranger Aluminum Club, be careful what you ask for. In my experience nothing is worse than a slow hole shot. My boat does 40 MPH at top speed. A 10% increase would take me to 44 MPH. If I was in a hurry I would buy an Allison.😏

I already have one so I don’t need another. I agree it’s good to have a standard way to measure water clarity.

Wire size for xi3 Kayak Trolling Motor?
You must include the wire size and the length to determine the voltage drop that will occur in the wire. Using 8 gauge will not cause a fire but it’s a little small in my opinion. You will see significant voltage drop when running the trolling motor on high. When calculating the length of wire include the length to the trolling motor and back to the battery. Consult a wire chart online to determine what you need. I recommend this one. http://assets.***.com/files/resources/newsletter/images/DC_wire_selection_chartlg.jpg Note: Increasing the size of wire lowers the resistance, it does not increase it.

Tackle and body breakdowns
154 bass this week is impressive. That's 152 more than I caught.

Why no love for the Alabama bass ?
I have his book and I’m old enough to remember the snail darter ordeal.

- bfs reel with high-ish line capacity?
I don't know what options are available for the Curado BFS but I buy different spools to meet specific needs. I use Diawa Siverwolfs for my BFS needs. There are many spools available that will work with them.- Why no love for the Alabama bass ?
I've tried to update my thinking on the Alabama bass to match the current thinking of biologist. As of 2008 the Alabama bass is no longer considered a subspecies of spotted bass. It is the Alabama bass not the Alabama Spotted bass. I think it's cool that they named it Micropterus henshalli after Dr James Henshall who is arguably the father of bass fishing.- Suggested Gasoline To Use?
It’s usually not that close. E10 has up to 10% ethanol. I sometimes wonder if the ratio changes based on the price of gasoline and moonshine when it’s blended. That’s also for 89 octane which I don’t run in my truck so the truck gets the cheap 87 octane E10.- Suggested Gasoline To Use?
I don’t worry about it because I use ethanol free! Stabilizer does not solve the phase separation issue if water gets in the fuel. Ethanol free gas is not that expensive here. I passed a station yesterday where the E0 was $3.75 and the same octane E10 was $3.70. That’s 1% higher cost for fuel that has 3% more energy if the E10 actually has 10% ethanol.- Hear, hear for the shore anglers!
I’m not gonna drink before church 😆 but my complements to the shore anglers. You have my respect.- Suggested Gasoline To Use?
The Mercury recommendations say drain the fuel if it is not going to be used in 2 months. If you can’t drain the fuel keep the tank full. I have a 22 gallon tank. I go fishing at least once a week. A full tank will last me 3-4 months in the summer and 6-7 months in the winter. What am I suppose to do?- Cologne repelling bass?
I wore cologne fishing once. I don’t think the smell bothered the fish but all of the women following me around did.- Suggested Gasoline To Use?
We have lots of threads on ethanol gas. I enjoy reading them and contributing to them. When it comes to what I actually do with my motors, I follow the manufacturer’s recommendation. My motor is designed for E10 but the manual doesn’t have good things to say about ethanol in gas. This link has everything you need to know. I wonder if anyone really follows the last recommendation to remove all fuel if a boat is going to be stored for two months or longer. I would rather pay a few cents more for ethanol free gas. https://www.mercurymarine.com/us/en/parts-and-service/service-and-support/faqs?categories=Fuel+%26+Fuel+Systems- The bad parts of where you fish
Drunk pleasure boaters.- Sensitivity
A heavy action rod should have a higher moment of inertia which is a measure of an object's resistance to changes in its rotation about an axis. It depends on the mass distribution of the object relative to the axis of rotation. A higher moment of inertia has to make a rod less sensitive since it will take more force to move the rod. I don’t know if anyone can detect the slight difference in moment of inertia between two rods but it’s the only aspect of sensitivity I’ve heard of that can be explained with physics.- Boat price opinion
MEGA Live will work with any Solix. If they were purchased when the boat was new they are Gen 1s. I have two Gen 1s and a Gen 3. Not a big difference in features. The Gen 1s are very sensitive to voltage fluctuations. That’s my only complaint with them. - bfs reel with high-ish line capacity?
