  1. Do not "turn off" brakes. Not the least bit necessary with Mag or Cent. Spool is turning way to slow for any affect. Mag does not have any "pull" unless spool is spinning. The magnet is functioning against aluminum. No static attraction. Only when in motion. Check YouTube video demonstrating this: Karl
  2. Yup - just received. Quick as ever! Express Worldwide - DHL Karl
  3. Going back to the original question: Nope! Karl
  4. It'll be just fine! If you want to carefully sand or file the area smooth with a VERY fine tool, it may make you feel better. The little file in my mini Swiss Army knife works great on such things as this. Emery cloth, knife sharpening stone. I would smooth it if it was roughed up. Karl
  5. Ohhh! AND - require that every buyer's offer include an Essay on why they should be Selected to Purchase Your Boat! Karl (yes, I'm serious)
  6. Unless it's a friend or friend of a friend. Even then - maybe. You're holding the cards - not any of the buyers. It's great to be in such a nice selling position. If you don't owe any favors, don't give 'em! Don't forget - "you always want something you can't have". Let the buyers sweat it out! Karl
  7. Sorry - I'm very opinionated on this topic. If you catch on live bait - you haven't really done a thing. Where is the challenge? Learn to work for your catch - like the pros. There is a good reason why live bait isn't allowed in professional competition! Once you fish for bass on artificial baits, you'll have a whole new appreciation for the sport, and truly grow as a fisherman. Karl
  8. Mustang ELITE™ 28 Highest level of safety and comfort. Karl
  9. Was in 1000 Islands with guide who is on Black Lake. July 24th. He didn't recommend fishing Black. It's experiencing a pretty bad algae bloom. The bite is off. Karl
  10. What fishing pressure!
  11. Yup - my profile pic was such a catch. A genuine Ross Perot "Sucking Sound"! Karl
  12. Gotta draw the line here. From experience. I'm just glad that I started my fishing with an Ugly Stick - now I truly appreciate a decent rod. Ugly Sticks are designed to not break; rather than performance. Karl
  13. There's a fair amount of talk on the rhyme and reason behind spiral wrap. Here's what I found on the main reason for its invention. Spiral wrapping allows a baitcasting reel set-up emulate the way the line comes off the tip-top of a spinning rod. If you think about it, it's more of an ideal way for the line to come off the rod. There is mention of torque coming off the tip-top on a casting rod (when fighting fish) potentially causing rod twist. Oh, hmmm, maybe. But those questionable issues disappear when the line comes off the rod with the tip-top guide pointing down. Do I have a spiral wrapped rod? Yup. What do I think of it? A fashion statement... Karl
  14. Those reels don't have Magforce Z just so you know. The spool is too deep to support it. Avoid the Tatula 200. This non-Magforce Z spool reel is very hard to control. I ended up purchasing an expensive replacement spool (with lower line capacity) from Japan - with Mag Z - to make the real usable. Overruns were just awful. And I'm very good with baitcasters. Don't even own a spinning reel. I'm a dedicated baitcast guy. (You can see in the pic attached how narrow the spool shaft is. Spool can not accommodate mag z mechanics) Karl
  15. I fish with some of the best offered by Daiwa. Zillion (orig), Ryoga. My travel reels when I don't want to worry about anything, but gotta have performance and quality. Tatula, and Fuego. Only real difference between the two is the T-Wing; which I'm not a huge fan of. Both great but Fuego best for the money by a mile. Karl
  16. HA! I'm not the only one that washes bags of baits with salt all over 'em. Can sleep better tonight! Karl
  17. Hook up with Art Hill for a great bass outing! http://www.arthillfishing.com/ Tell 'em Karl from Rochester, NY sent you!
  18. Looks like the line is digging into the spool at higher drag settings. Looks like using braid. The experienced braid folks will chime in. Shooting from the hip on the potential braid issue; I'd guess line is too thin. Reel is OK. Karl
  19. Lure:5/8oz Line:16lb PE #6-10 Specs I pulled from the link. This doesn't look very "super". Stick with well known brand fishing equipment. Much less guess work. Karl
  20. I actually like this when fishing from shore. Makes me stop bombin' lures - can be a bad habit. Often the bass are only a few feet away! Karl
  21. Carp jump like whales around my water! Doesn't seem to affect the bass bite.
