When is it time for your Dad/Mom to stop driving??
I will gladly hand over the keys to my truck any time with conditions: 1. You do all of my grocery shopping, 2. You pay the insurance, gas and upkeep and finally 3. Show up here at least 2 days each week to hook on to my boat and take me wherever I want to go fishing.

Shaky head versus Finesse jig
From post spawn to late fall I have both rigged up. I throw a few casts then switch until I get bit. For me it is mostly the terrain that seems to favor one over the other. My shaky is usually a ZinkerZ and the jig is Pee Wee 3/16 oz with a trailer. I use various head sizes for the shaky and several colors and trailers for the jig. Generally the jig works best close to deep water while shaky shines in coves and shallow points.

Jigging raps
A while back I bought some parts and made some. Today I found bass in 30 fow near the bottom. They were being picky and would hardly bite anything. I had one tied on and dropped it over the side. A fish hit it on the way down but came unbuttoned. I dropped it back and hooked a second fish with the same result. I reeled it in looked it over and dropped it back down. Another one hit it and also came loose. I’m about to send them to the land fill. Any tips on fishing them on an open flat near a bluff?

That’s what I did and my electronics killed the battery in 11 months.

making your own plastics - couple questions
I do that a lot especially with baby brush hogs. I shoot the tail color into all of the cavities of the mold. I open the mold and with an exacto knife the bodies away from the tail leaving the tails in the molds. Then I close the molds and shoot the body color. The heat seals them together. You don’t have to rush but you waist time getting done. As for the green you mentioned, I would try a sample say 2 oz plastisol get it properly stirred and melted choose the green you want then put 1 and only 1 drop of colorant in the plastisol and stir it well. If that isn’t enough add a 2nd drop. When you get it the way you want it write down your recipe so it will be repeatable.

Whole home generator?
I’ve been getting by with a portable and have it set up for emergencies but the last time our power went out the generator was in the storage unit behind the house and there was too much snow to bring it in. If I were doing it again it would be a whole house propane back up.

Anyone buy hand pour soft plastics?
I don’t buy them because I make them, but not for sale.

when do yall start fishing?
We can usually fish all year long. This year we’ve had some icing in the creeks but the main lakes have stayed open so I go when the temp and wind allows.

Shakey head for largemouth
No I don’t. I use heavily salted worms.

Shakey head for largemouth
I use bait casting setups for shaky head. The rods are custom made just for that purpose. I use 12# fluorocarbon line and fish from 1/16 to 1/4 oz heads. I use VMC 1/0 and 2/0 hooks.

When is it time for your Dad/Mom to stop driving??
I’d say for my daughter never. She lives 20 miles away and I am sure she would not want to haul us around or run errands for us.

Where to find info on 1994 Champion 186
Good luck with your search. The built in censors keep some specifics from being mentioned.

Best Bass on a Homemade Lure
I caught a 7# 3oz on a home made red worm in the first tournament that I ever fished.

Fishing Journal
I am a bit OCD. I use excell and have since 1998. I open the file before I go and enter everything that I can prior to the trip. As soon as I get home and put the boat away I open the current file and finish. I record the date, the launch site, whose boat we used, fishing time, air temp range, water temp range, moon phase, species of fish by number, best producing bait, best color, average depth of fish then notes of anything memorable. There may be some other things but that is what I can recall right now. I just finished looking through old records trying to decide where to go next and what might be working.

How tall are y'all and what's your ancestry?
At 5’9” I am the tallest person in my family. My dad was 5’6” and was mostly English heritage. My mom’s dad was an even 5’ tall so we could never get very tall. My mom’s lineage is Irish and Cherokee. So I guess I am a mixed up mess.

If you Google Champion boat forums, you should find some places to get information.

Food while you fish?
I don’t eat in the boat. I have a big breakfast before I go. I carry water and a protein drink in the boat but I rarely drink either. I’m going fishing not picking.

Lithiums or Lead Acid?
I’m only running 1 lithium. It is less than half the weight of my agm batteries. It is for my Solix units only. It holds a charge much better than my agm batteries, however, it takes a lot longer to charge than they do after a day on the water. It is on a single bank 10 amp charger.

Needing a Shimano bait casting reel
The Aldebaran is more than twice the price of the Curado. Is it more than twice as good?

Needing a Shimano bait casting reel
I am wanting to put it on a Gloomis Bronzeback 6’9” ml rod. Right now I have a Curado 70 XG on it with 8# line. The lightest thing I can throw is a TRD on a 1/8 oz head. I would like to be able to use lighter Neds and maybe 10# line. What Shimano should I get?
