  1. I’ll address the second question in your post. When going to lake x as you say, I just take into account what type of lake, cover, etc. along with what time of year, and weather conditions. Then out of all that decide what techniques I think will work and want to use. That’s just me not saying that’s right or the only way.
  2. I have Tatula and zillion sv’s. Used to own a couple chronarch mgl’s. But my longest casting reel is easily my metanium mgl b .
  3. and he’s a pretty good person to listen to
  4. I love braid to leader but on this forum you will be told knots fail every other cast which isn’t true if you tie the knot correctly.
  5. He said favourite, that’s British for favorite only reason I asked, as far as I understand anyways. Thanks for the response
  6. Just curious are you British? Love seeing fishermen from all over that’s awesome!!
  7. I’m starting to think knots are the boogie man. They aren’t nearly as tough as you read and fail much much less. I show these forum posts to my friends who fish and they all laugh a bit. It’s just not that daunting
  8. I agree. I had an xbites, and own a nrx 873 crr. I always seemed to grab the 873 so eventually I gave my buddy a great deal on the xbites. Both such amazing rods and I’m sure many probably like the xbites better. It was just a feel for me on the 873. And when you compare quality rods it really is very subjective.
  9. So many videos on San Diego jam. I decided this year to try it and really like it for fluoro. I’d just suggest watch a video with some line in front of you and go step by step. Super easy honestly if you do it a time or two with the video.
  10. Certain frogs walk easier. River 2 sea frogs walk well as one example. And a bit of a softer tip (not a pool cue) definitely helps. As far as your question about side to side vs up and down by all means experiment but I fish from a kayak and mostly am seated and can walk a frog parallel to the water no problem.
  11. I have two zillions bought at the same time. One was always geary, the other isn’t. As far as spool tension i always set slight side to side and that’s how they both were pre set.
  12. True but as a person who didn’t fish for several years really, and picked it back up… I’m very grateful and have learned a lot from YouTube and this site.
  13. Lived in Ely almost ten years… miss that neck of the woods for sure.
  14. I think on the heavier side of your wants perfect pitch would be good. As someone said though it’s ideally two rods. Maybe I’m missing a rod in the lineup, only own two orochi.
  15. Thanks guys just wanted to hear a few opinions. Appreciate it
  16. So I’ve had decent success using crank baits in described lakes. When I look up crank bait fishing it seems more hard bottomed bodies of water where the lure is grinding/deflecting. I’m just curious if you guys such as wrb for example think it’s a less efficient technique for my water conditions. I won’t bother being preemptive answering all the incoming questions I’ll do so as they come! Thanks
  17. Grats on the reel…. I sold my x bites but one thing I will say is it was by far the prettiest rod I’ve ever owned
  18. I’d personally either look for sales, or find a local tackle store and see what discount they can give you on a tatula sv. I own four of them but I also own two zillion sv, and a metanium mgl b…. Bang for the Buck standout is the tatula sv
  19. I love braid to leader for the casting/handling of the braid and the versatility of being able to just change leaders or not use a leader depending on what I’m doing. I also seem to be in the minority I guess that I don’t seem to suffer from “ckf” (chronic knot failure)
  20. At some point I’d like to try a steez, I own two zillions. If history is a teacher I’ll assume the masses will rave about the zillion. I myself own all daiwa except one. Shimano Metanium mgl b and that’s my favorite reel. Curious as well what people use the steez for.
  21. Happy birthday! Thanks for your passion for fishing and activity on the forums.
  22. Curious if anyone does I suspect a few do because I absolutely love nrx 873 crr. That being said curious if they feel any different. If I was going to buy two of the same rods that I’ve tried it would be the 873 crr. Thanks
  23. No experience with st. Croix glass as I prefer graphite. I own st croix rods on the lower end and was super impressed. I’m basically bumping the thread so you get a response from someone who knows ?
  24. What no screen for your live scope on top??
