  1. Took the wife camping and fishing on a beautiful lake for Mother's day.
  2. That's a little more rod then I like for wacky rigs. I'm using a VMC #2/0 Neko hook with a Med action rod but do use braid to leader though. Perhaps test that spool of line for flaws, possible. Something else to inspect and has happened to me in the past. Check your top guide for line wear, it creates a small groove that eventually can create havoc by randomly cutting the line.
  3. Ha Ha answers all over the place, why I love fishing. I throw flukes on a 6'8 med with 15# braid and Magnum flukes on a 7'3 heavy with 20# braid. Why ? Not 100% sure but love throwing them and Bass love eating them. Walking them just below the surface works best here.
  4. Have to agree, rotate baits, gain confidence in the baits your throwing. Perhaps change up cadence, swim Jigs, sit still awhile with Zoom speed craws or brush hogs. Bass never seem to get tired of craw baits here but if they did, I'd get tired of throwing them.
  5. I'm a shorts and flip-flops fisherman but also seasoned with age. Never get out of the boat once launched.
  6. Tight up against the bank.
  7. Lol , the Zara Spook ( full size ) can spook fish on the landing but let the ripples calm and then walk it. It's a proven big fish bait.
  8. Perhaps situational but caught more bass on Spinnerbaits then any other bait over the years.
  9. Fishing in general has taken on a new meaning in " pressured " in recent years. Just over the weekend here in VA, I talked with DNR and they claim that many citation fish are kept and that shocking results have shown a significant decrease in fish population in the majority of our lakes due to the almost sudden increase ( China flu ) in fishing pressure. I strongly believe that world record Bass will remain in the books for a while.
  10. Wow !!! Thank God for the speed craw ?
  11. Well had to snap a pic of the yard. Lol I'll have to mow soon cause we're seeing more snakes and black widows, no joke.
  12. That there is pretty frugal. I probably have over 30K in gas and marina fees over the years. Lol
  13. All my casters are straight 20# Power Pro braid, love the stuff. All spinners are 15# Power Pro braid to an 8# Sniper flouro carbon leader the length of rod, using an Alberto knot. Only time I've experienced any issue is when not paying attention and get the leader to long and knot finds it's way into the reel. Hope you find a resolution.
  14. Chatterbait ! Then I'll work the same tree with same color Spinnerbait and catch em'.
  15. Spend a bunch on fishing but figure I could do much worse with addictions....... good addictions that is. ?
  16. It killed my favorite 36 acre lake as well.
  17. Sherando lake in Lyndhurst VA, it's the upper lake.
  18. I absolutely despise to mow grass, always have. Luckily live in a remote location and let'er grow.....Mow once per month regardless. The tall grass cost me a trophy though, my girls were throwing my Kenny stabler outograghed football in the yard and left it. I mowed over it a shredded it, true story.
  19. I'm with ya' on drop-shot and Ned. They certainly catch fish but I feel almost to masculine and want to pull my hair out when throwing them......but those little finessey things work.
  20. Wife and I were fishing a beautiful small lake in southern VA Thursday and I had a strange foul hook on a smallish largemouth bass. Was throwing a 5" weightless senko on a 3.0 hook and the Bass actually sucked it through the mouth and out of it's left gill, so when I set the hook, it hooked the Bass on the side with the line running in through the gill. I simply cut the line and unhooked the Bass which swam off uneffected. Been fishing a long time and this was a first.
  21. April is perhaps my favorite month as well. Super nice fish ?
  22. VERY admiral on your part ?
  23. That's a lot of fish in 12ft of water, I'm guessing suspending vegetation. I've not seen that on my graphs.
  24. Wow, entertaining responses ?. Years ago I spooled a baitcaster with Berkeley Vanish flouro carbon and promised myself to never spool a reel with flouro carbon......not even the wife's. Lol I do like Sunline sniper for leaders.
  25. A fish is not worth a confrontation, smile and move on. We can't control the actions of others but we can control our own.
