  1. Catch and release. I was tired of seeing eyeballs and guts on the basement floor with those snap traps. Have not caught a single mouse in over a year since finding their access point. They chewed through the screen in window well so I replaced it with a heavy duty wire mesh screen. Those live traps require a look every morning because given enough time, they chew their way out.
  2. Best mouse traps I've ever used is these live traps. Caught 15 mice in 15 nights using them until I figured out where they were coming in. Wife said I was catching the same mouse. 😂 The mice up here just walk right through glue traps and carry off the Victor traps. Would have to be skinny rats though. 😁
  3. I've never had that thought cross my mind. It's more than just the fishing aspect, it's the whole realm. Quiet time on the boat, sounds of nature, sometimes just looking around while drinking a cup of coffee. You may just need to rethink and reset and see where it goes.
  4. The resort that the wife and I were visiting allowed me to bank fish their little shallow pond. Was sight fishing with a Jackall flickshake in Cola...... only saw 3 and caught them.
  5. I use.006 for Senko's and.003 for finesse worms like flickshake. If you can't open the small rings with the VMC tool just use needle nose pliers, works great.
  6. Is bite window related to solunar calendar ❓
  7. Completely missing a brake shoe ❓ First I've heard that.
  8. Yes ! 1 reel and 2 rods came by recommendation here. The biggest was finesse techniques. I was always strictly a power fisherman before joining, now throw a majority of finesse which does wonders in the clear water I fish.
  9. My cousin and I hit the water early this morning and had plenty of action but our last fish of the day happened to be a greedy bass. It actually hit both of our baits. I was throwing a Jackall flickshake and he a spinnerbait. The fish grabbed the worm and my line moved rapidly towards the spinnerbait and the fish grabbed it, crazy. We literally set the hook at the same time.
  10. I mainly fish deep clear water but when I move around to other lakes, water clarity dictates what I throw. Bass are aggressive predators that ambush prey no matter their geographic location. I've found no difference in their aggressiveness from various states but if I moved to a different state, I'm sure there would be a learning curve to optimize productivity.
  11. I lightly spray every bag of soft plastics with Baitmate classic with anise. Some say " but it releases the salt " . I use a weight silly 😁
  12. I check tire pressure before every trip in boat trailer and RV trailer and add air until max PSI.......65 in both trailers.
  13. I eat breakfast before every outing. On the boat: 32 oz water Trail mix Banana Protein bar.
  14. Seriousness that I can think of ......I devote a serious amount of time to fishing. I'm serious about preparation and safety.
  15. Mink fell down into the window well at our house and was screaming. Went to the wood pile to grab a 2 x 4 to stick down so it could climb out. When I got back the wife's cat jumped down and instantly killed it. They ain't as tough as cats.
  16. Can't beat a Mepps #3 when positioning the boat parallel to the bank. Also a lot of fun on a ML.
  17. Fishing as a whole has increased 10 fold in the last couple of years but holiday weekends is at a whole nother level. I go into hibernation on holiday weekends...... I'm scared 😲
  18. I've broken the tips off more rods than I care to admit and it changed the dynamics in a negative way, maybe placebo effect. My M Sierra is a personal favorite but maybe need to experiment with a ceiling fan 😉
  19. What rain does is bring clouds, always good. Heavy thunderstorms, best to go before. What I've found after a really heavy thunderstorm with lightning is complete lock-jaw.
  20. Remove the gas cap and see if it sucks air. I had a similar issue years ago and found a paper wasp in the vent tube.
  21. November is all about Deer season here. Yes a great month to fish but brothers and cousins are expecting to see me at the cabin for the month....... it's a highlight of the year.
  22. I'm a big fan of the baby brush hogs. Favorite color is green pumpkin blue flash.
  23. Mines not so great. My youngest daughter works at a very busy local restaurant and has many friends there. She volunteered my services, to change oil in her friends cars tomorrow 😳 So all these cars are suddenly needing oil changes when the shops are closed 😔. Happy 4th
