  1. That's impressive. The wife respects my passion for fishing but says I'm to old to fish in the dark by myself. 😀
  2. A favorite bait but I only fish them shallow on a Gamakatsu screw lock.
  3. I'm a glass half full kinda guy. It going to be a St. Croix legend xtreme.....but sadly the tip will be broken from shipping. 😅 Nah, believe it or not, I've ordered at least a dozen rods via Internet and never had a damaged rod. Happy father's day.
  4. Same here. Have my alarm set for 3am Monday and will likely call it quits by noon.
  5. It's a tank !!!
  6. Pretty good video on YouTube testing leader knots. I started with the Alberto and never had a reason to change. Each time I snag the knot at the hook is always the weakest link leaving behind leader to retie.
  7. UV index is something else to consider, it's been running very high here (9). An issue that some of us face " especially me " is that when the fish are biting we become to focused to stop, pause for a minute and drink. With age we get a little wiser " hopefully " I make it a point to put down the rod and drink a bottle of water roughly every hour. We should be drinking plenty of water every day regardless of activity.
  8. Good rod choice for the money. Imo
  9. Man that's heavy 😳 Well said.
  10. I buy VMC crossover rings by the bushel, slight exaggeration but they save a ton of plastic. Several weeks ago in a lake full of Alabama bass, I caught 13 on a single flickShake worm. .006 for Senko .004 for finesse worms. Oh you'll need the tool to spread the rings.
  11. I recently booked a trip with a guide on lake Menderchuck that refuses to use PayPal.......he seemed trustworthy so gave him my card info. Idk
  12. It's NOT fiction ! I saw him launching on YouTube 😁
  13. Everything is already on the boat so my list of things to remember is small. 1. Throw water and snacks in the cooler 2. Do a walk around, check tire pressure and straps. 3. Put gas in the truck.
  14. Curious as well. Governor of Maine maybe 🤔
  15. My fishing partner is a diehard power fisherman, owns no soft plastics or bottom contact baits. I'll let him have his way and fish his style until I go a stretch without catching anything. That's when it's time to change, time to slow down " switch out ". There are so many considerations though. Sunny day, time of day, wind speed, type of cover, water clarity all play a role. I have to strategize with gin clear water in mind so as the sun rises the baits slow down and get smaller. Once I get to that point I'll stick with the bait the rest of the day. Nothing is in concrete regarding fishing.
  16. Having children, working 6 days a week, wife going back to school all slammed the door on fishing...... sold the boat. Retired, kids moved out, bought a boat and fish 3 days per week.
  17. Our coastal river systems are fantastic bass fisheries, highly rated year after year. Bass know more than we know and lay there eggs knowing they can tend the nest on low tide.
  18. I've never replaced a battery before it failed. The day I have to jump a vehicle is the day the battery gets replaced.
  19. Free public launch in all the lakes I've fished in VA / WV.
  20. Natural habitat 😀
  21. Ha Ha the first thing I did when I bought a new truck was disable auto everything. Lol Just felt weird not being in control of the vehicle, probably just me though. I want to operate the windshield wipers, headlights, cruise control, door locks. Now if I get into a wreck, I'm to blame. 😅
  22. Straight braid on all casting gear. Braid to fluorocarbon leader on all spinning.
  23. I lost a handle years ago but remember it only being a few bucks to replace. The square spindle keeps stress off the nut but I always check it while reeling in the boat. I can't wrap my head around the $60 for a handle.
  24. Hot water makes for slow fishing around here, August is the worst. We're still in June and the bite has been good.
