Not all talk is like that. In fact, talking to people face to face can be one of the most beneficial things and I'd wager to say I've met more people who are passionate about the sport, open-minded, and willing to share information than what you describe. While the internet has lots of information, it can be overwhelming even for more seasoned anglers ... I can only imagine for someone just beginning. I know personally had it not been for old man Walter at the lake I first fished, I likely would have stopped fishing altogether. He taught me many of the basics and most importantly helped get some fish on the end of my line which motivated me to keep learning.

Ill go down to 4lb on dropshot and weightless trickworms and have gone as low as 2lb when casting lures for trout. Line twist is usually the result of poorly spooled line or a poorly tuned/rigged lure.

In my experience, line diameter and how it affects the lures action matters more. Ex: 4lb mono will likely be better than say 8lb flouro

Im sure DVT has more experience than I, but I've never seen these go out. The real issue is typically over lubrication. On a friends reel it was slipping after he saw a YouTube video on how to oil a reel and removed the handle and gave the bearing underneath a big squirt of oil. The excess made its way to the AR and caused it to slip. A clean up and proper light oiling fixed it.

Its all part of the sport of fishing. And even if you do break a tip top by holding the rod too far up like I did then you just learn how to replace it and move on. Learning is half the fun.

I would only add that if you're simply trying to catch fish, try throwing a #2 or #3 mepps spinner. IMO the easiest lure to accidentally catch fish on.

I love throwing 1.5s on med/mod with 10lb line over weedtops and around weed edges. It is definitely super flimsy but it keeps them pinned.

The worm drive gear (white nylon or whatever plastic) goes in ungreased.

Id be careful with off the shelf RC bearings as most are chrome bearings. Unless they specifically state that they are stainless steel bearings, assume they are chrome. What are you fishing for? You tried a round reel abu and somehow that wasn't too big, it was just junk but the Curado is too big?

spray it with KVD line and lure or buy better quality mono. If you have to stretch it somethings wrong.

Not in your head at all. Also not sure if the mediums listed are moderate, but the medium moderate rod I have feels too soft for single hook lures. Braid might fix this, but you mentioned mono so I'd go with MH.

Try flipping the bottom most washer on the drag/gear stack (anti reverse ratchet). It sounds like it may have been put on upside down.

When i first moved into baitcasters and used a MH All Star, it felt like a broomstick to me too. I soon realized that the lure weight I was using was too light for the rod. That being said 3/8 is not a small spinnerbait.

Improved clinch knot doubled through the eye is what i first learned to tie. Easy to tie and strong enough.

I may be mistaken, but isnt that a bushing it sits on? Replace it with a bearing of equal size.

Idk about this. I pulled up a couple redfish in the 10lb range on a 33 when i was in high school.

I used to do TSI on pinion bearing as well until I read this https://japantackle.com/tackle_topics/maintain_fix_reels.htm made sense to me so I switched to grease for that bearing and it really made a difference in feel.
