  1. we go to concerts down there all the time. I second the notion that everything is close.
  2. I do believe those are called "Little Piggies".
  3. Can't go wrong with the old rage swimmer. Also with Googan baits being clearanced out almost everywhere, if you can find some saucy swimmer they are pretty much a direct copy of the rage swimmer. I found an Ollie's that had saucy swimmer for 1.99 a bag. I bought all they had.

It could open up a whole new market of sponsorship opportunities. Geritol, Depends, Metamucil... 😂
  5. Most of the time I don't even do that. I reel one turn real slow and let it sit for about 5-10 seconds then crank another turn.
  6. I have an old Skeet Reese big worm rod that has micro guides. I love the rod action but I hate the guides. Micros are just too small imo.
  7. For a slightly cheaper option Abu offers the Revo X BFS and the Veritas BFS rod. This setup can get you into BFS with a decent combo for about 250.00 bucks.

Sweet! And just in time for me to go visit frog country on thurs.
  9. The problem with having a boating license program is that history has shown that inevitably governments become greedy and the license always becomes less about safety and more about money. If we could find a way to negate that and keep the money grubbers out of the licensing program then I could see being OK with it. Otherwise I feel it is an effort in futility.
  10. Those are two of my favorites also. The ned rig because it flat out will catch fish when I can't get anything else to work. It an easy presentation, It's simple gear to rig up and I have the utmost confidence in it's ability. I don't use the shakey head as much as I used to once I discovered the ned rig.
  11. The veteran gentleman I fished with was not a buddy(at least not at the start of the day) We have 50-65 veterans sign up for this tournament through Operation North State then they pair us host boaters with veterans at random. Then we take them out and they are basically our coangler for the day. But to be honest I have made many lifelong friends through Operation North State. The goal of operation North States is to bring people together and support veterans and promote healing and fellowship through fishing. It's always and adventure!
  12. Fluke Square bill Spy bait
  13. Weightless fluke and a squarebill(specifically a Rapala Rocco) The Rocco comes through cover better than most other squarebills in my opinion. I can drag the Rocco through a laydown with full confidence if there's a fish in there it's gonna hit.
  14. Which one do you prefer or do you use another brand of soft plastic swimbait? I prefer the cullshad but the mag draft has been a proven producer for me over the years. Maybe it's the honeycomb that gets me excited. lol What say you fine folks?

I was out there running around with them yesterday fishing a Charity tournament. Still amazes me how the pros can catch fish with the way they run around with their hair on fire. I can't tell you how many pros I saw fly up, drop the trolling motor, make 3 casts(if that), and haul hind parts out of there like somebody was chasing them. lol
  16. Lipless crankbaits... Years ago I used to catch all kinds of fish on them but for some reason I can't get them to produce anymore.
  17. Fished the Operation North State fishing festival tournament in Mooresville NC on Lake Norman today. Its a tournament where 50 host boaters each take a vet out for a day of fishing in a just for fun tournament. Being a vet and ONS alum myself. I look forward to being able to do this each outing. Started the day off catching our biggest fish of the day on a spro spin john 80 spybait around bridge rip rap. Switched up to dragging a minimax chatter bait with a zako trailer and stuck with that the rest of the day. My vet fished nothing but a fluke the whole day. After the rip rap bite petered off around 10ish we switched to shade lines under walkways from.docks. culled up a few ounces and ended the day with 5 fish for 8lbs. 10 oz. My vet who is disabled said he hadn't had that much fun since he can remember and I had a blast telling war stories and catching fish with a fellow Navy vet.
  18. I had a Helix 7 Mega SI/DI on my kayak and I loved it. The menus and setup are easier on the helix but I think the Striker might have just a hair better transducer So ease of use or performance? Weigh them both against each other and see what's more important to you.
  19. I had a cancer scare earlier this year. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Praying for you brother...
  20. I have a pretty good method for doing that on the boat. Take your crooked flukes and lay them on their back on the deck of the boat in the sun while you fish. The sun will warm them and make them pliable enough to go back to their original shape. If there's no sun well you should be fishing a bait with more vibration anyway. 😂
  21. Season opened yesterday but I couldn't get out to hunt thanks to the honeydo list. Walked all over the mountainside this morning and saw not nary a dang turkey. Didn't even hear any shock gobbles from my crow call. Last week I had at least 3 big gobblers strutting just off the driveway in the woods right next to my house. I could literally drive up to them and get out and they wouldn't move. Whoever gave my turkeys the list of hunting season dates for here in NC shame on you!😂
  22. Back in the day we used to call them one off models "Mart guns" such as the Winchester Model 70 "Ranger". They used Birch instead of maple(I believe it was) on the stock and the finish was a cheaper process. Then that margin got to close to cost so they released the 670 without a floorplate cheapening it even more. Not just Walmart did this. Alot of the big box stores sold the econo models of things.
  23. I boil them for 30 seconds.
  24. I have plenty between whats hanging in the garage and the boat. I use them alot and was trying to augment my stock because I know they are gonna be gone off the shelves for a bit with Kyle's win and I don't do much shopping online.
