  1. Chatter bait Jerk bait Ned
  2. I live near 2 scheels...we have one 45 miles north in Sioux Falls and 40 miles south in Sioux City. We also have fleet farm and Dicks...Scheels is better than both of them.
  3. I've got a Garcia C3 5500 I got for my 13th birthday...ill be 40 this May. I've replaced the Pawl a few times, but that's it. Caught alot of nice channel cats with it last fall.
  4. I just don't get it
  5. I'd tell you that the answer to chocolate milk water is a double Colorado spinnerbait...but you think they are the work of the devil and would just think I'm lying.
  6. Too many is 71 so your outside of the crazy...but barely
  7. Northwest of me has had way more. Last month we had a storm drop 12ish on us...100 miles northwest they had 26.
  8. That's a thing up here...right now its ice fishing season. Your from Texas, your only two seasons are football and hot as hell.
  9. I'm south of Sioux Falls about 45 miles...looks like we are predicted to get 6-8inches between Tuesday and Wednesday. In a normal winter we get 33in...my buddy told me the other day we've already had over 40...one guy said 45. This should fill up the local river and ponds.
  10. Whoa dude
  11. I was going to recommend the Shakespeare micro series...they are solid for $20. I've actually got 3 of the 7ft light power model and they would work great for what your looking for. Throw a 1000 size shimano sienna on there..the sienna comes in at $30. Pretty decent little combo for under $55 after tax. Best part is you can usually find both at Wal-Mart- so easy to obtain.
  12. And BINGO was his name o
  13. I understand everybody has had different experiences and I'm not discounting those, but I've always had great experiences with them so they continue to get my business until they ruin that.
  14. So couple questions: are you talking combo under $50? What baits will you throw and what fish are you targeting?
  15. I'd recommend it. I hadn't done it in years..having basically completely focused on Bass. It took me one river wading trip to go oh yeah now I remember why I love cat fishing. Plan to do alot more of it this year.
  16. I'm amazed at all of these stories of shipping issues from TW. I've ordered from them a ton over the years and I've never experienced any of these issues. That said I can understand why your annoyed, but like stated above I think calling a supervisor and whining them out may be a little much. I to would go the Email route, you can keep it short and concise that way, get your point across and it will be better received which means they may actually address the issue so it doesn't happen in the future. Who knows maybe they will even send you a free gift or a coupon code for the inconvenience. Guaranteed if you call and unleash on them the only thing that will happen is the guy hangs up, says well that dude was a stupid a#$&%$# and go about his day.
  17. Last year I got back into cat fishing the river. Put on some hip boots, small tackle bag, 1 rod and a small cooler for bait. Then I hike down stream and fish cut banks and tree piles along the way. Good times.
  18. I think this is a great idea. You be the bigger man, go out of your way to be friendly...if it doesn't go well then you know they are just jerks.
  19. My plant is literally in the middle of a cornfield. The river is about a mile away but there are no roads down to it near the plant. We have 3 ponds onsite but they are devoid of fish, plenty of bull frogs and an occasional snapping turtle. Do have a small creek on the back of the property, guys have trapped minnows out of it over the years.
  20. I love buzzbaits and throw them often. My best success has always been on cloudy and or lightly rainy days. I've tried to like trailers on them and have tried many but ultimately I always go back to a skirt. My weapon of choice is a 3\8oz war eagle black with black blade- throw that 95% of the time. My biggest 5 bass limit ever came on a buzzbait on a cool drizzly fall day-somewhere around 26-27lbs.
  21. My experience has been when red lipless baits are working gold black.back works better for me.
  22. I listen to a station that plays lots of 50s and 60s stuff. That said I was listening to a "classic rock" station the other day and they played Nirvana. Didn't know what to think.
  23. I throw alot of lures that were introduced before I was born. Mann's minus 1, jelly worms, phenom worms and rebel pop Rs. Also I'm the only guy in my bass group that throws a buzzbait.
  24. Gotcha. I've ever tried squirt...I usually use Simply Grapefruit juice, lime, tequila and some club soda. Squirt would be a nice change.
  25. If it were me this is what I'd do: first and foremost I'd wait until afternoon to get out so the sun can warm the shallows as much as possible. Then I'd hit the north shore somewhere, preferably where there is rock...that should be your warmest water because the rock holds heat and the north shore should have the sun on it most of the day. For baits in that temp range I've had luck with: slow rolling a chatterbait or Colorado blade spinnerbait, a crawfish colored flat side crank like a frittside or crawfish/ gold lipless hopped or slow rolled. Normally I'd say a jerk bait but 1ft of visibility is not conducive for jerkbaits in my experience. A black and blue jig could also play, especially if you have some shallow wood mixed in with the rock.
