Everything I've read has been to replace with the original hooks. The vision is very sensitive to the weight of the hook to perform properly. Most tackle outlets sell them.

I agree with RW you are way over thinking it. I have no more maintenance with braid than I do with floro or mono. Actually less because it last a lot longer.

Shimano Stradic c14 Great reel. Never had any issues with it. Steelhead fishing in freezing temps. with no issues.

I agree. I don't use live bait but I hope the Op doesn't get discouraged. Fishing is fishing as long as it's done legally and ethically. I know alot of folks in Florida that use shinners all the time. Good luck in your quest Luke. tight lines

Got tired of exactly that happening so I switched to Costa's. They cost more but there worth it. Wiley X are also good.

If you fish mostly under 8' then I would definately get the polls. Spot lock is great. I use it all the time, but if fishing shallow water the polls are the way to go. In shallow water spot lock can spook fish.

Hook 2 are good basic models that are very easy to set up and learn. You won't be dissapointed.
