  1. I'll use a snap on the bottom to change weight sizes out easily. I remember trying it but felt it was unnecessary for a main line of 6lb nylon, on my braided reel which I don't like but use I try to use 20ft+ leaders.
  2. Was such a useful tool, don't use it now because I've pretty much memorized everything I eat, but it's basically a calorie menu for everything you can think of eating.
  3. This^^^ wt basically is the power of the rod, 1wt 2wt 3wt are used for very small fish or presenting tiny tiny flies lightly. 4wt is for tiny usually unweighted or small bedhead nymphs and mostly dries 5wt does dries, nymphs, and small streamers 6wt medium streamers, small poppers, etc etc..
  4. 5ft 9wt is a jack of all trades, fly fishing industry is elitist and is high on their own supply price eBay. I don't buy mainstream. Diawa algonquin rod is good, and nothing fancy for reel don't spend over 50$ on a reel. Put majority of your money into the line and buy flies on ebay.
  5. Fruit Vegetables Bird Fish
  6. Yup, and are most likley on the top 10 list of Pro west and Pro U.S nation in the world, you have to be when China and North Korea are your next door neighbors. it would surprise you but buying from them most likley represents your values rather than buying from the U.S. Seems as though the countries that are surrounded on all sides by unfriendly foes often share the same values as the west.
  7. I have owned three pfluger presidents that are 7 and almost turning 8 years old and thought I would share information for people who are interested. One is a size 25 xt, another is a size 20 standard, and the final one is a size 35 special edition. (1A) Problems that have been noticed out of the box during 500+hours of use 1. Stock grease is terrible in the cold feels grindy before warming up 2. Spool design and line lay is good, but not as good as a diawa or shimano in line lay and the lip design is inferior. 3. 3-5mm of play in spool shaft, very minor, on par of similar value diawas and tatulas. (2B) Problems that have arisen over time due to use most likley 1. A solid 15mm of play in handle knob of original, and 10mm of play in the xt and xt special edition, every reel has some play in the handle, but twice as much as a diawa or shimano of comparable value 2. Light clicking sound on size 25xt when spool reaches top of oscilation cycle and bottom pf ocilation cycle, common in even the highest end Stella's, usually due to lack of grease, but its really bad. 3 slight minor warping in frame of reel in all three, all occurring in and near the bail arm and line bearing roller. Very minor and you won't notice tolerances unless using 90mm line diameterand lower. (3C) The annoyances: 1.Braid ready spool is just bad, the rubber is cheap and falls off leaving a gap in the middle of the spool that mono has to end up filling creating less line lay 2. Sizing of pflugers is 1 size smaller than all other brands 3. Knob material on original presidential is plastic and even stored away from light in warm setting (such as a garage) will cause a weird cosmetic cracking that removes that rubbery texture. So these are all the negatives, they are still excellent reels, I would prefer others but they are still excellent, just letting buying see the longterm problems that may arise, all three work completely fine still, just not new out of the box.
  8. 10-12lb Mono, will do everything but frogs, and heavy gauge jigs. Just don't fish heavy gauge hooks you will be fine, get omniflex or big game, you will backlash and you won't loose money.
  9. Classical D.S=light spinning or bfs Neo D.S=casting K.I.S.S
  10. I have a pfluger president and picked up some PP 10lb. I don't really like braid on spinning but it was cheaper than nylon so I picked it up for the good deal. I was just confirming it won't destroy a pfluger presidents line roller
  11. Dream shot bait is a bait I like,1 or 2 size hook, mosquito style hooks or light worm hook.
  12. Yes they are different, expensive leader materials offer different types of leaders, such as shock leaders, abrasion leaders, and soft leaders to impart more natural action. As WRB said above, bass are not line shy and leaders are not usually needed and use a clear nylon line, florocarbon has many qualms.
  13. That's exactly what I wash thinking also, I just didnt think it would crap out from 6 months of light use. Best bet may be to just get it warrantied That's exactly what I wash thinking also, I just didnt think it would crap out from 6 months of light use. Best bet may be to just get it warrantied
  14. I dropped a spool on a KK reel and made that same sound, if you haven't taken the spool out but once I don't think its the issue. Does it make the reel feel geary or is it just auditory, have you ever taken it apart?
  15. Have you dropped the spool at all even lightly?
  16. I have no idea in hell why people would want to live in Chicago, LA, or SF. I don't go do anything in downtown LA or sandiego or Sanfransico because I cannot go a street corner without seeing someone stooped out on drugs, needles on the street, human feces, or a a row of tents. I felt safer in Mexico at night than those cities anytime of the day
  17. As light of a weight as possible, no bullet weights.
  18. Bass are very opportunistic and left alone will eat anything that moves. Pressured fisheries and clear water seem to create more wary selective fish, but that's environmental and not behavioral.
  19. Shimano slx, diawa tatula, dobyns fury line is excellent, at that price point everything honestly feels amazing, if you want some cheaper options I really like the diawa arid x and Shimano sellus are good rods. I'd say it boils down to whatever is on sale or the cheapest, I don't think you can be dissapointed with any of those choices
  20. Did the knot or snap fail, if so what style/brand. just curious to hear to add to mental archive
  21. Are you serious fishing or fishing for fun. Telescopic rods are okay for that. Two piece spinning rods seem much easier to find than casting if you don't want to spend a ton of money or buy a zebco rod.
  22. I realized if crappie populations can take the pounding of catch2eat anglers heavily, bass will be fine
  23. Line diameter matters more than material, largemouth bass are not line shy, carp and trout are line shy.
