Spinning Reel Question
Yeah, perhaps i overgenralized and overexaggerated the point that AR reels are dead, far from it like you say... great info, I don't disagree at all with anything you said, I think this is why I prefer jdm more also, much of the market is about fun and traditional fishing culture, where as usdm market is based more in competition in bass angling. One example that comes to mind is the U.S market has the goal of jet skiing bass to a boat, where the Japanese culture of bass fishing is thinner lines for more recreational fun and challenge. Or pistol grip glass rods like you mentioned on bfs. Perhaps I overexaggerated slightly... probably leaning towards greatly ?

Spinning Reel Question
Same with bamboo rods, dacron line, and rear drag spinequiptment, pistol grip rods they still can be used almost just as effectively in general, but the markets have dictated otherwise because the consumers quit buying them in place of more versatile, affordable, or just better options.Have plenty of full cork rods rear drag spinning reels, AR sp reels, a bamboo fly rod, and antique dacron line and use then heftily, all of these things I listed above are dead or dying in popularity, it's not an insult it's just a decline in usage over newer equiptment. AR spinning reels aren't dead yet by a Longshot, but they are undeniably getting phased out my major manufacturers.

Spinning Reel Question
Way of the past, it's dead, I've used it, it's okay foe fighting fish but drags have come so far even garbage carbon ones are reasonably smooth for bass fishing with heavier lines over .13mm leas maintenance, sw exposure, etc.

Bass Pro Shops XPS Lazer Eye The Egg
Imo the colors are rubbish, hooks are fine, doesn't blow out at faster retrieves. I have the 2 inch, the other one looked a little too big in store but haven't used it. P.S (if your not in a rush wait until sales bps discounts their products often)

are you rubbing your soft plastics to dull them?
The only person I hear ranting about it is Raggy blanket, he has some wrong ideas, one of the worst ones he has made is said there are too many people on earth, which leads to pretty evil solutions..... I just hope he doesn't think I'm one of the people on his earth that are overpopulating it.... Nonetheless I tried it a few times with trick worms and didn't see any noticeable difference, but take it with a grain of salt and try it out yourself... dont throw the baby out with the bathwater just because Randy says some things that are controversial... to say the very least... he occasionally has a few decent prieces of information.

As everyone else has said, .10 or less

What fluorocarbon line works best for spinning gear?
Fluorocarbon is stiff and wirey, which can increase distance because it blows off the spool, but by the same token will cause wind knots more often. Are your issues wind knots or line twist Braid gets worse wind knots if those are your issue. Best bet imo is nylon. The thinner you go, the farther distance and less head aches you will recieve. Double edged sword.

Huge trout on a Zara Spook

2023 Flies
Those look great, mop fly material? Let me know how their weedless attribute turns out, it's hard to find a good weedless fly pattern

Do you agree with this quote?
Well, I find alot of fun in the equipment; tackle, lures, and the environment, but lots of the urban parts of SOCAL are trashy, unsafe/dangerous, and you are around alot of people that aren't kind. So sometimes I just go fishing in terrible areas just to catch fish, and when I don't it's not a great day Maybe I'll move to a more rural state or clean state that doesn't have human fecalmatter around every block and homeless bathing in lakes.

Water temp question
In my limited expecience Seems as though they prefer cold to hot, but can still be sluggish, and hate hot to cold rapidly, but I have caught fish really well consistently cold and really well consistently hot.

!#@$$!@$!!! in my excitement I blew up a reel with brand new line. Que about brakes
Yes, but I get much better distance using less thumb with brakes.

Use of FC tippet with braided line?
From my understanding from fly fishing Tippet (1x 2x 3x 4x 5x) is simply just a leader material that costs more than normal lines because it is consistentand more accuratley the same diameter based on the x size accross all brands. This is important for fly fishing when repairing, building, and lengthening tapered leaders because the weight of the leader casts the fly, not the lure. Tippet also tends to have much less memory In my experience snd is generally a higher end nylon or fluorocarbon then typical fishing lines. Yes you can use it as leader material, depending on. What you want, sadly the U.S market has terrible leader options compared to jdm market, Tippet is also similar to jdm line, and is not grossly overrated like usdm lines, bexause a third party verifys the diameter. so 3x tippet used commonly for size 14 nymphs and dries, is advertised as 7.5lb line which you would think is thick for trout, but feels more like 6lb sunline line or 4lb izorline. A good stretchy stiff floro leader material is red label or yo zuri hybrid.

Circle hooks on crankbaits
Seems popular in saltwater top water, from everything I have read the entire point circle hooks where invented was to accept a worse hookup ratio in exchange for causing minimal damage and preventing guthooking, I don't see a benefit to moving baits because the fish doesn't have a chance to swallow it and will most likely just spit it out. In line hooks seem to make more sense, never used for bass but I commonly used for stream trout, both for woody streams and special regulation water, on minnow baits like Rapala. Seems to me circle hooks shine more for bottom dwelling fish caught often with bait such as rockfish, catfish, carp, stingray, some shark species, and did I mention stingray.... the worst nightmare is hooking a stingray when fishing for shark and having to mess around with pliers while it's trying to stick you in the leg.

Looking back at the 2022 season, what is one thing you want to brag about?
I've learned two really fun skillets 1: Catching lots of panfish and trout on hand tied flies like this one, 2. Realizing that @Bass_Fishing_SoCal thinks I'm a deep fake shapeshifter.... ? ? (I love you even though you don't tend to reciprocate, God bless you in 2023 friend!)

Super cheap gems
Sgay old rods are terrible cdm rods, new ones (expecially UL, have 200$ UL-xul blank with 2 year old assembly, sloppy epoxy work, globs over guides, desalination in some areas, but for 30 retail and 23ish on sale its amazing. It's the only brand I have found that sells a dirt cheap rod in XUL power X Fast action blank that is amazing. The components are rubbish but I don't care for the blank quality. Use it a ton, bought an extra in case they are discontinued because cdm products often are, also got my father one which he loves. I don't care what anyone says presso rods are great but are noodle damp rags compared to this blank, even sensilite doesn't hold a torch
