  1. I throw Worm weights and split shot rigs between 1/8 oz - 3/8 oz. in my river. That seems to get it down to the fish well enough. My river is 3' to 8' do and runs at about 1ft/sec most of the year. Your results may vary. Ps - football heads are the first to snag.
  2. I'm palmering some nice maribou as collars for fuzzy fibre bait fish that are 2.5" - 3.5" long.
  3. Nice boo jig!
  4. I keep tension on both lines and always straighten the leader before snuggling the braid down. 14 wraps on small (6# - 10#) lines and up to 20 wraps on the heavier leaders. I dont think I have any secrets, just consistent. And I pinch the knot pretty tight when I'm wrapping.
  5. Watched a tutorial on the SC knot but I didnt pursue it any further. I've been tying the FG knot for the past 5 seasons. Two or three every night for months is a investment in time I'm going to milk.
  6. They grow slow in Ontario! Very sad to see 4# bass tossed and left on the bank in the spring by some Idiots.
  7. This past year I noticed how many times a new lure caught a bass I the first 5 casts and then went cold. Had me retying alot.
  8. First I want to say Congratulations. Secondly I'm jealous.
  9. The OP isn't fly fishing with a 2500 BG reel. Tippet makes great leader off braid. Typically tippet is just a stiffer formula of (mono or fluoro) line. It's also more expensive. Personally I prefer mono because of knotting and abrasion. I know, everyone says fluoro is better but I will stick to mono and an FG knot.
  10. Last summer I took a fishing trip with my brothers to a resort called Silgrey, near Algonquin Park. We were catching mostly northern pike and largemouth both on topwater frogs, walleye on swimbaits and smallies on jigs or cranks. Average smallies were 2# to 3#. I also hooked a few rockbass that were way over 12" and they were a surprisingly fun fight. They're more "frantic" than smallies of equal size but no ariels. They were so memorable I mentioned it to a local we met and he told me the world record Rockbass of 3# was caught in that same water.
  11. My top 5 are mostly river smallies with one LMB. Maybe 22#
  12. After the shaking subsides you go into an adrenaline dump.
  13. Yes a 4# LMB is pretty big in my waters
  14. My biggest largie is only 4# which maybe isn't big enough for a LMB to prove their abilities.

  18. I prefer the X-rap in current because i think it has a nice action when pulled against the current.
  19. I bet all those kids in the Googan Squad have ffs.
  20. I'd give that marker a try, but I've spray painted crankbaits with just rattle cans so be warned.
  21. Largemouth fight like walleye
  22. The Little Stuff
  23. Played competitive hockey with my brothers growing up. Won a silver stick. Coached my daughters in competitive hockey too. My youngest D won an Ontario Provincial championship last year. I usually put in a 40' x 60' backyard rink which is alot of fun for me. I follow the womens national team, leafs and bruins.
