  1. I just saved this comment. Nice that on this forum you can hear from wiser folk ?. If there’s one thing that I know, it’s that I don’t know thanks Tom
  2. I’ve had a catfish explode on a crankbait sitting on the surface and I’ve caught nice brook trout using a shad rap 05. a lot of funny stuff going on in the photo below lol. I am in the green hoodie with my first treble hook in my finger thus not holding the fish. Mask as a chin diaper cuz yanno, COVID. And that random guy is lipping a brook trout. I dunno know man, I dunno know. Probably my most comical fishing photo. I darkened the other guy’s face for his privacy.
  3. I don’t use the ika, but with a senko, this has almost never failed me. It’s good stuff
  4. I’ve been planning on my next rod purchase for a long time. Thought I was going to get a frog rod, then I thought a jig rod, then crankbait rod. But truly, I wanted a better spinnerbait combo. This is what I landed on. Abu Garcia Revo Winch left handed iRod Genesis III - Stone Cold Swim and Vibrating Jig Rod Just bought, pics to come later. The reel may be overkill but I really really wanted one of those winches.
  5. Whatever it is it has to have a slow reel. I think one of my very first posts on here was about faster reels and since then I’ve flipped 180. 7’4ish medium heavy moderate fast action and a slow reel. Cuz I can chuck spinnerbaits with that.
  6. Welcome from a fellow NC angler!
  7. I’ve thrown a finesse jig on a gin clear reservoir that gets good pressure and done well. I love it in the rocks. If there is riprap, I’m throwing a jig.
  8. My neighbor. Used to fish BASS, has fished with Randy Blaukert and Lonnie Stanley, knew many others. He’s a wealth of knowledge. On A-Jay’s progression of a basshead, he would be in stages 4 and 5. Loves to share information about fishing, but also fishes his own way. Uses light spinning tackle nowadays to catch bass. He also influenced me to pick up a spinnerbait and buzzbait. Taught me modifications to buzzbaits to make them squeal. Old schooler with spinnerbaits, loved to slow roll, loved long-arm spinnerbaits. He’s awesome. Shout out to the man ?
  9. Everybody’s got their thing. I think swim jigs would work wonders in heavy grass and in many other situations. I don’t know because I’ve barely fished them. I just keep it simple and throw spinners.
  10. I’d like to add to this that with a spinnerbait, a single blade and especially a willow or Oklahoma blade catches a lot less grass for me. Indiana does ok. Colorado is a no go. With two blades there are other components on the wire shaft for the grass to get caught on.
  11. Only lure that fish cannot remember, the plastic worm ?. Heard that from somewhere. Might have been on here You mean a spinnerbait doesn’t solve all my problems? ☹️
  12. I got a smallmouth today ?. Fishing on Oneida Lake. Also got one juvenile largemouth. This is my third ever smallmouth. They sure are fun. Had no idea a fish could jump so high. I don’t know why pic is sideways. Think of it as Pirates of the Caribbean.
  13. I made some this morning the @Sam way and they were the bomb diggity. ? There’s a reason they call it getting ‘yoked’ right? ? I respect the hustle a whole lot.
  14. Especially right before I’m going to fish. If I could healthily eat buckets of scrambled eggs I think I would
  15. Hey I ain’t a swimbait fisherman but @WRB’s recommendation of the 3:16 mission fish on another post almost made me get one. They come in some larger sizes. Love to hear that
  16. Yeah zorro aggravator is great. A lot of my spinnerbaits are Nichols and the 1/4oz, 3/8oz, and 1/2oz with single blade are all short arm.
  17. I’m with fluorocarbon being overrated. sweet tea?
  18. Hey ya’ll, quick question as I’m on the water. I’ve identified the grass in a lake I fish as bladderwort. What should I know about fishing in lakes that have bladderwort? This lake is covered by it. Hope ya’ll are well!
  19. Same here. I also learned that a fast gear ratio is not necessary for slower buzzbaits. I throw the Cavitron comfortably on a 5:4:1 reel. Quite convenient because that means I throw it on the same rod as my spinnerbaits.
  20. May not be deformed. There is intentionally more weight on one side of the head than the other on the booyah covert.
  21. Looks like a winner for sure. I bet it'll be candy to the bass.
  22. Just looked at it. Awesome, thank you. Another reel to consider
  23. Fishing report. Hm let’s see. I spent this weekend doing other things. This does not happen often. Only have weekends available right now. My report is I haven’t caught anything and I regret it. go fish!
