  1. I'm not sure what to expect for my next trip either. Weather has been changing and right now the winds are all crazy, coming from atypical directions. I do think the recent rain will help but if the fish ain't used to these conditions, not sure how going to react yet. I may night fish
  2. Still kind of playing around with straight fluoro and straight mono. I like both. Fluoro does have less bow in the line, what we mistaken for stretch. Seems to give me more of a direct pull. Fluorocarbon is also undoubtedly more sensitive and holds up better to uv degradation. So, fluorocarbon should last longer on your reel. It's tough though because I like mono too. I kinda like that bow in the line and it tends to cast a little easier for me, requiring less maintenance than fc. We can use any line type in bass fishing and be fine
  3. I'm still never buying this piece of scat
  4. @keagbassr helps keep the universe together. Hear me out. There’s just so much continuity going on there. His selfies are iconic, his shirts are similar, his bass are always big, he usually catches them on the same stuff, he usually has the same facial expression. @keagbassr posts and you know exactly what you’re getting. Someone’s whole life could be changing and things might feel like a dumpster fire to them, but then @keagbassr posts and they realize nothing has changed and everything is okay
  5. LM love rock too though, and especially riprap. Riprap holds so much dang fish….
  6. Does your body of water have any well-defined channels or any grass? Those are two things that I think could change the game a lot
  7. I recommend looking into everything A-Jay has stickied for SM on this forum, and otherwise watching how guys are currently catching them in tournaments. Not really to copy them or even do something similar unless you want to but to get an idea of just how nomadic SM can be and to emphasize the importance of being around bait for SM. You’ll also hear stuff that the guys are looking for, for the fish to hold on
  8. I’ve used one of these for a long time. Basically, any time I’m about to tie on a bait, whether that be on or off the water, I check the hook sharpness by seeing if it sticks to my fingernail perpendicular. I will also, while on the water, regularly check both hook sharpness and the state of my line for any nicks or long abrasion. I will absolutely sharpen the same bait I’m using on the water if it starts to get dull. I’ll stop fishing, sharpen, then resume. Just the way I do business
  9. Agreed! I couldn’t wait to buy a few things, but I still have a reel on the buy list, as well as some restocks. Maybe LV-500 galore too
  10. 5mi run for 38:10 this AM. Keep up the great work A-Jay!!
  11. A fluke may have been a good option when I was out, for sure Y’all, IT RAINED LIKE CRAZY LAST NIGHT. I am very excited to see what happens to the lake. A cold front finally broke the heat dome we’ve been experiencing for like 2 months. We’re experiencing lower temperatures this week
  12. When researching to try to answer this question, I stumbled on the 3:16 Workhorse Glide. Retails for something like $275 but I bet it works. Sounds like they are incredibly hard to get a hold of too
  13. I got the wild idea to put it on a swing head with the tail split like y’all suggested. I did not get anything on it, but only a shaky head worked yesterday so I ain’t judging it yet. Kinda just dragged it by what looked like a large school of bass offshore but I coulda been mistaken. They were so tight to the bottom that you could barely make out the arches on 2D and they came up as nice pop-up dots on side scan. To be continued
  14. I hate flukes. Hate em. Can’t catch crap on them or jerkbaits, but I stink with both. Lol
  15. PB is on a $10 spinnerbait that is not only unique, but you cannot get it nowadays unless you email Nichols saying that you want it, since they don’t mass produce single colorados anymore
  16. Gosh okay I guess I’ll play along. I remember being mildly intrigued by Mattlures Hardgill Swimbaits. Retails for around $85 I think.
  17. I decided to keep mine and try it, but I will keep the bottle after it's finished. I just kinda figured that after shipping and hassle, not making much $ off this bottle, especially when you compare it to more iconic "slam dunks." So anyways, my thoughts. The label on the back of cask strength advertises it as Maker's Mark, just a "little over the top." That's accurate, and no surprise seeing as this is Maker's Mark before any kind of diluting. But the stuff is seriously strong. Really really strong. It's good. It's refined, more so than regular Maker's Mark, it's got a pleasing aroma, it is decently smooth and leaves a great aftertaste. But not for the feint of heart. Stuff burns and keeps burning. For what it is, it's great.
  18. JACKPOT. Went into the liquor store and saw they had a sale going on. Lot of good options but this is what I settled on to try. Normally $42-$50 but got it for $31 Now, when I purchased it, the lady at the counter asked me if I purchased this one intentionally. She said that the bottles like this one that have an excess amount of red seal are actually worth some money. Anyone know something about this?
  19. Today was really tough. Even though I had psyched myself up to catch a big sack today, I did know that the conditions could be good or bad, depending, and in this case, they were bad. Water temps 85-91, water level 17ft low, water clarity ultra clear with no rain for well over a month and a half. Often no wind to speak of, but there were little 10min bursts of a breeze. I tried deep and shallow with around 8-10 different techniques. None of my old stuff was working. But, I did at least manage some fish. 2 I photo'd and the 2 others were not picture worthy. Once upon a time, in Aberdeen Bait and Tackle in NC, I stumbled on a pack of green weenie zoom finesse worms. Once upon a time on Badin Lake, the shaky head wizard taught me to fish a shaky head. I'd like to thank those two things for happening, because otherwise, I'm pretty sure I would be sitting on no fish today. That's 8lb trilene xl on the reel by the way. I was fortunate to never break off or lose a fish.
  20. I’ll post up soon. Caught 4, 2 were good enough to photo and one was a pretty good bass. It was actually very tough. I brought 6 rods, including one spinning, and a shaky head on a spinning is all I could get em to eat. 8lb line and finesse worm. Water temp low 85 (launch), high 91 (done)
  21. WOAH. Great smallie and what is that submerged grass I see underneath you when you are releasing the fish?
  22. I still have never fished a dropshot
  23. @T-Billy joints are feeling decent. Should be fine
  24. We get along good. Just usual smack talk. Now I can blame @T-Billy cuz I’m already rigged. Conditions are kind of a tossup. It’s actually prefrontal, but it’s over 24hr in advance. Low winds though, and still very hot. No rain for a long time. I’m just confident because I feel like I can find them and I can catch them
