  1. @Swamp Girl Anyone who competes with you needs a head start...well, maybe everyone except @Bluebasser86. Y'all are fishing catching machines! Nice one @N Florida Mike!
  2. Sorry to hear that the weather, and the fish didn't cooperate. It still sounds like you had a safe trip with good friends, and caught a few fish so it wasn't all bad. Thanks for sharing. I always enjoy reading your trip reports.
  3. I'm so sorry to hear this, Bob. It sounds like you had a great life together with lots of wonderful memories. She will always be with you in your heart, and through your children. I'll be praying for comfort in the coming days for you, and your family.
  4. I've seen those exact deals at Ollie's in Alabama. Ollie's is hit, or miss for fishing stuff. Ours also had a lot of Yamamoto stuff, but the price for those was not much lower than it is anywhere else.
  5. I can't offer any help to the OP's question, but if there are pictures with @TnRiver46 with rollers in his hair I bet a lot of folks here would pay to see something that funny. 😂 Maybe try offering to trade the tubes for lures? At least you might end up with something useful. Good luck!
  6. I like academy rods. I think I have 5 or 6 of them. I got all of them on a crazy clearance sales, but they’re decent rods. I consider one of them to be really good. I’ll definitely plan to check this one out if they get them in my local store.
  7. Like everyone here, I'd like to fish more, catch more fish, and catch bigger fish. I'd also like to use more of the tackle I have, and buy less. I know how that will go. 🤣🐒 A long term goal that I've been working toward is to catch a fish in every navigable waterway in my county. There are two rivers, and eleven navigable creeks. There are three creeks that I have never fished. Now that I have a kayak I have better access to those creeks. I would like to complete that goal this year. Another thing I hope to do this year is fish with @Smirak. We talked about it last year, but it didn't work out. I hope it will this year. I need him to give me some kayak fishing lessons.
  8. Awesome! Can't wait until the trip report. Just don't let any of those pesky otters sneak up there with you to eat her fish.
  9. Have you ever seen Curt look that happy? 😂
  10. Wow! @Glenn, that’s crazy! Glad to hear no one was hurt. It kind of looks like that massive rock is giving you the side eye. 😂
  11. There are very few on Tom’s level, but don’t sell yourself short @GreenPig. Landing a DD bass takes more than luck.
  12. 3 lb 15 oz on a chrome blue back Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap. More details in the latest catch thread.
  13. It was over 50 degrees on Friday so I worked through lunch in order to have a little time at the river after work before it got dark. I caught this largemouth on the first cast. The scale bounced over 4 lbs several times, but settled at 3 lb 15 oz. The picture below shows where I was standing when I caught it, and where I had to go to get it. It's hard to tell from the picture, but it's about a 10 foot drop down the rip rap to the water with the lake at winter pool. I had to keep it pinned while I climbed down to get it. Fortunately, I had a good hookset. Unfortunately, I didn't think to get my pliers before I went down so I had to climb back up to get the pliers to unhook it. I didn't want to toss it back from that high up so I climbed back down to release it. This fish gave me a workout 🤣, but it was worth it to watch it swim away. The first cast curse was in force because I didn't get another bite the rest of the day. Not a bad start to the year though.
  14. Nice fish! What a great way to start the year. Hopefully it's a sign of good things to come for the rest of the year.
  15. @NorcalBassin Happy birthday to Pops! 81 yrs old, and still catching fish. What a blessing!
  16. I used to laugh when people talked about old people problems, but I’m starting to understand. 😂
  17. When you click on your profile there’s an option on the dropdown that says “mark all content as read”. I didn’t try it, but I bet that’s what you’re looking for.
  18. Sounds like an exciting day of fishing @king fisher. Good job, and thanks for sharing the story.
  19. Wow! @Bluebasser86's bass talking to shad...or anything else that swims near them.
  20. That’s really cool! I second what @A-Jay said. Superstar! The rest of the world is finding out what we BR members already knew. T-Billy…Man of 1,000 Muskies.
  21. If I caught my best bass on the same lure two years in a row I’m not sure I’d ever throw any other lure. The fact that we do is proof that the bait monkey’s grip is strong.
  22. My biggest bass of ‘25 was a 5 1/2 lb LMB on a pink zoom trick worm.
  23. Maybe so, but it looks delicious. 🤤
