  1. It was over 50 degrees on Friday so I worked through lunch in order to have a little time at the river after work before it got dark. I caught this largemouth on the first cast. The scale bounced over 4 lbs several times, but settled at 3 lb 15 oz. The picture below shows where I was standing when I caught it, and where I had to go to get it. It's hard to tell from the picture, but it's about a 10 foot drop down the rip rap to the water with the lake at winter pool. I had to keep it pinned while I climbed down to get it. Fortunately, I had a good hookset. Unfortunately, I didn't think to get my pliers before I went down so I had to climb back up to get the pliers to unhook it. I didn't want to toss it back from that high up so I climbed back down to release it. This fish gave me a workout 🤣, but it was worth it to watch it swim away. The first cast curse was in force because I didn't get another bite the rest of the day. Not a bad start to the year though.
  2. Nice fish! What a great way to start the year. Hopefully it's a sign of good things to come for the rest of the year.
  3. @NorcalBassin Happy birthday to Pops! 81 yrs old, and still catching fish. What a blessing!
  4. I used to laugh when people talked about old people problems, but I’m starting to understand. 😂
  5. When you click on your profile there’s an option on the dropdown that says “mark all content as read”. I didn’t try it, but I bet that’s what you’re looking for.
  6. Sounds like an exciting day of fishing @king fisher. Good job, and thanks for sharing the story.
  7. Wow! @Bluebasser86's bass talking to shad...or anything else that swims near them.
  8. That’s really cool! I second what @A-Jay said. Superstar! The rest of the world is finding out what we BR members already knew. T-Billy…Man of 1,000 Muskies.
  9. If I caught my best bass on the same lure two years in a row I’m not sure I’d ever throw any other lure. The fact that we do is proof that the bait monkey’s grip is strong.
  10. My biggest bass of ‘25 was a 5 1/2 lb LMB on a pink zoom trick worm.
  11. Maybe so, but it looks delicious. 🤤
  12. Merry Christmas to you too!
  13. Sad news. He was incredibly knowledeable, and always willing to generously share his knowledge. His contribution to this site will be missed, but not forgotten.
  14. Merry Christmas BR friends!
  15. There’s one pond that I fish where I have never caught a single fish on a white spinnerbait, but i have a black spinnerbait with black and red strands that will catch them all day there. I have never caught a fish on that spinnerbait anywhere else, but it works great in that pond. You’ll never know unless you try it. A mouse colored spinnerbait is one of my favorite, and most successful spinnerbait colors anywhere I fish.
  16. Nice fish! Way to stick with it.
  17. @T-Billy…man of a thousand muskies. Awesome year, man!
  18. What, no drum @TnRiver46? 😂 I always like a nice multi species day.
  19. The kids went to grandma’s to help her trim the tree, so I fished for a little while. Air temperature was 36 degrees, and the fishing was as cold as the temp. I did spook one fish walking along the bank, but I didn’t even get a nibble. Nice fish @N Florida Mike! I knew you’d like that tilapia magic @king fisher!
  20. @king fisher I like tilapia magic too. It catches fish, and it’s on sale fairly regularly near me.
  21. Prayers for you, and for all the people who will go through it with you.
  22. I agree. There are many ways to fish. We can all fish however we like, as long as it’s legal. I prefer artificial because I like to cast, but I fish live bait sometimes. It is still fun, just different. If you’re not fishing where the fish are it doesn’t matter whether you fish with live, or artificial bait…you aren’t catching anything. Great fish, Mike!
