  1. Could always reload your own. I’ve noticed those supplies are not nearly as scarce. Just set it up next to your wood mill and oil refinery.
  2. Only time I’ve ever worn waders in a lake I stepped in a hole. Empty pockets and my head was only inch under but it scared me to death. I easily slipped out of the waders, and they were serious effort to get back out of the water with no danger, but man. I’ve never even tried it since. I imagine it’s what “concrete shoes” feels like.
  3. I’m strictly bank and it is often 100+ during the day. I go early or more likely 8pm and later if I’m serious about catching bass. T rig worms, spinner baits, small swimbaits always work well for me. If I’m out in triple digits mid day sun I throw whatever makes me feel like I’m doing something. Drop shot and shaky never really do well for me at those times. There’s just no telling. I have much better luck with panfish during heat than anything else.
  4. Tommy Lee. (His last name is Bass.) Or …..A-Rod
  5. Overrated. Just a dude like any other. Over or under rated: Sleeping in
  6. A few weeks x a few months + a few more weeks + 35.7% of 2 weeks - .09 weeks^10 = when you’ll get it. Seriously. Prices good, but as stated I had no memory of why I got this fantastic reel in the mail. For 2 days I thought it was a mistake and I committed a crime…while I fished with it.
  7. I’ve started clipping all cranks. I like the extra freedom it gives them and it makes it so much easier to swap them. I also started clipping any treble hook topwaters. As stated above it makes their action better IMO as well. It also makes braid less likely to foul. I use duo-locks since others always seem to fail.
  8. Have an old Daiwa reel that I hooked a good size fish on and the anti reverse immediately breaks. So the fish starts running. When I grab the handle to stop it the handle breaks. So I grab the line. The line breaks. So I leave. Figured if I stayed a tree would fall on me or something. A car fender bendered me 3 houses from my driveway. That reel sits on a shelf in my garage as a reminder of when things go wrong…take a different way home.
  9. I’ve never understood why anyone that has dental insurance flat won’t wear their PFD. Especially with the options nowadays that are so simple and comfortable.
  10. Ha! Looks like my 7 year old at the table…
  11. Probably the high end Daiwa or shimano baitcasters.
  12. Buzzbait by a lot.
  13. My hi vis mono (Berkeley) faded waaaaay faster than my hi vis braids (kastking, runcl, cheapies.) And if you’re doing to leader I recommend hi vis braid to leader. But monos just don’t seem to last.
  14. I will say too that I have the viper x 2000 as well and while they have different specs…they’re the same to me. The carbon x was not worth paying more for what it is. The viper feels sufficiently the same to fish.
  15. I have the carbon x 2000 and it holds up well, but it’s still not metal. Definite flex if you get a catfish or something beefy. I’ve caught a 3lb bass on it no problem with some patience. The drag was fine. But I wouldn’t want a 5 or 6+ to try. I don’t think it would hold up. By contrast I feel my president is equal to the challenge.
  16. If you don’t have confidence in your knot it probably will. I do braid to leader on several rigs and have never had my Alberto knot break. But I also agree with others that on moving baits the fish don’t care. I go straight mono on spinners and cranks simply because I don’t like how the braid fishes. Nothing to do with the fish seeing it in my decision.

    Same here on the jigs.
  18. I use 12lb mono. I don’t like braid for treble hooks, but with a leader, it’d be 20lb braid to 12lb floro leader. So if I used floro I’d use 12lb.
  19. I have noticed people are afraid to try things other than what they see in pro videos. Let me say this: the worst that happens is you throw it out and nothing bites it. (Actually, I guess the worst is you lose it.) I mean, that happens even with the perfect setup. So fear not. I don’t like to use big hooks. It’s just not my style, and I don’t have confidence in them like I do smaller sizes. Just personal. I don’t buy into “big bait big fish” cause it hasn’t been true for me.
  20. Lol. I still have a castaway medium spinning rod that’s my wacky/weightless rod. More in the lighter feel. I got it in 2002 (college)when I worked at academy. Best I could get including my employee discount ?? Had an old Daiwa spinning reel my grandfather gave me to go on it back then.
  21. I use 3/0 with 7-9” ribbon tails. Never been a problem. As far as waiting, if the fish sucks it in, they suck it in. Never been a problem. I even use little circle hooks with ribbon tails on drop shots. No problems.
  22. I have never seen a frog anywhere near anything when it’s 100 in middle of day. I’ve never had any success. Maybe you will.
  23. Either one. Slice in half (hot dog, longways) and clean out however much if the core you want. Seeds don’t add nearly as much fire as the inner lining holding them. Fill with cream cheese, wrap with a piece of bacon or a 1/2 strip depending on size of pepper. if the pepper is huge I’ll cut the long ways in half (hamburger) so it will wrap and cook easier. Grill. You’re just cooking the bacon. I don’t add seasonings to my cream cheese. Basic. Can be made at least a day ahead of time. Pro tip: on a “new” grill, freshly cleaned, or old funky grill the poppers help grease it so burgers won’t stick. Devour. Edit: pic of spicy goodness
  24. The fish don’t care. I don’t have a single rod over $60. Most are in the $30-40 range or they came with a $60 combo. Catch fish all the same. I did learn to avoid some brands. But several are good quality for good price.
