Our experiences with Vanish are very different. I have found it to be durable with good knot strength . I agree it’s not the softest line, but I’m not using it on spinning reels . I alternate between Big Game and Vanish on my casting reels only. Trilene XL on spinning reels. I’ve tried more expensive lines and didn’t see what all the fuss was about.

A purple worm should work well.

What problems did you have with Vanish?

I use it on my baitcasters , and haven’t ever had a problem.

A drop shot. My wife says she remembers me catching a few with it, but I can’t remember a single one. It is definitely not a technique I am confident in.

I like watching Chris Zaldain. His mustache is almost as good as Sam Elliot’s. When he got on the hot spoon bite and lost a few good ones and ran out of time, that was intense. I’ll keep watching him no matter who his sponsors are.

I feel naked if I leave the house without my knife. A fixed blade is pretty nice so you don’t have to dig in your pocket every time you need to retie.

A finesse worm works great with a 1/0 or even 2/0 round bend

I think Swindle uses the double clinch for fluorocarbon. A good knot for mono , fluoro and braid is the doubled San DiegoJam , like Mike said. A doubled uni is also very reliable and consistent. Wait , I had a brain fart. I have never used the San Diego on braid. But I absolutely know without a doubt the uni works well with braid. Sorry about the confusion.

I was watching a bunch of divers retrieve a sunken boat at the marina while sitting in my bass chariot . One of them glanced my direction and whispered “ that one’s next.” True story. Anyway, back to other people’s junky boats, what the heck are they thinking?
