  1. OK...then if you didnt mean anything then I apologize for bringing up. But since you asked...it was this line from your second post (which I quoted before). Since I was the only one that made a recommendation about the reel...I assumed you were talking about me...if not specifically me than, indirectly me. Here is the definition of spite. I'll leave it at that.
  2. See...there's the combativeness I was referring too. I wouldn't really call myself sensitive as much as defensive.
  3. @Mick D ...since I guess your addressing me... Why do you think that the reel is insignificant? You wouldn't but a 40 on a short ulta light and you wouldn't put a 16 on a surf rod. You earlier referenced Well...part of their set up has EVERYTHING to do with the reel. Reel Measurement Tutorial Is there some other underlying reason you tend to be combative to anyone who offers an opinion other than yours?
  4. Rods as short as 5' can have a 25...a '5 6" could have a 30. This info is from Fuji's spinning rod New Concept Guide. CONCEPT GUIDE PLACEMENT I really think it comes down to which reel you use....but you should be fine with a 25 to start on most rods.

Sorry for your loose...I know its a tough thing. I've lost a couple fishing partners through the years. I have to admit that I still think about them all the time...mostly while fishing. What I'd give to have one more trip...
  6. Thats was a good en... This is a friend of mine Guthrie Trapp. This is the guy everyone strives to play like...and every one else wants him in the band or on the album.
  7. This is called a "Sun dog" (the actual Sun is behind the tree). Sun dog (Wikipedia)
  8. I always love it when Labor day rolls back around. Schools start, football starts, hunting starts...and I get the lake back.
  9. Its been my experience that the land owners have some real concerns. There are those that will climb and break a fence, leave a gate open, damage an out building, steal equipment. So...yeah I think a little recon at the put in and take out will do you volumes.
  10. [Actual quote] Guy in his boat leaving, "Do you mind not fishing here? I'm fishing in a tournament tomorrow." Me, "Oh...OK."
  11. I'm gonna go with technique too...I totally suck at skipping anything.
  12. The one thing I've learned is that not everyone fishes the way I do. They dont buy the same lures I use. ...the same reels I use. .. the same line I use. ...the same rods I use. But thats OK...one thing we all like is to fish. By no way do I consider any thing I have superior....actually quite the opposite.
  13. All those will fish on the lake here.
  14. I went through the same kind of thing wading years back. Like mentioned above...you own the river half way across. My problem was that sometime the owner can own both sides of the river...technically owning the river. And in some cases, putting a fence across the river (really for cattle). The non-nav part came down to if you could float logs down the river (that part is a little dated). Getting to know the land owners will usually get you on the river. Warning: If you find yourself on the losing end of this battle ...dont push it. You'll find yourself with four flat tires.
  15. Nice fish...
  16. I have a Rainshadow CB66M with 6" cut off the butt...making it 6'. Being a little shorter I can get away with just 11" handle. This is fitted with Pflueger Trion TRI20. This set up weighs just 9.24oz. Currently using StrikeKing 6lb floro...but going back to Stren 6lb mono.
  17. Words of wisdom from Gary Klein. I pretty much quit buying tackle a long time ago...but recently got into making tackle! Man...just another version of the bait monkey.
  18. It wouldn't be fair to leave out bass fishing kingpin Jerry McKinnis. He was probably the most instrumental person promoting finesse techniques. bio
  19. Really cool...great photos.
  20. I like to mess around with ESP32 and Arduino...which sometime leads me to a Raspberry Pi and FireFox is standard with that too. Edge is actually built off Chromium engine.
