@gimruis we have an open season here. I had to take months off to heal. I used good gear. When I say I ripped dawgs I RIPPED them.

I always try to take a look before I thumb it.

The susky was slow and tough fishing over the weekend. Muddy water and lots off grass floating down it.

I do not prefer underpins in the river because of how shallow it is. You end up just hitting the blade off bottom and boulders.

Top water, spinners, jerkbaits are all good choices. As it gets cooler bottom contact baits are bad idea. Pretty much everything will be decent this time of year

Diehard musky guys are a special breed.

@Koz I agree. I don’t really think there is much difference watching someone use FFS or not. Fishing really isn’t a spectator sport in my opinion. I like seeing big fish caught but, the cast retrieve repeat isn’t that interesting. Unless you see a big blow up on top water

As against FFS as I am. I did like the idea of keeping it. Once the schedule is posted the elites can’t fish that body of water till day one of the tournament

It was very hot. The river got low but, never got super low. The fishing wasn’t bad. Wasn’t great either.

Nothing says fall like a hoodie, camp fire and some cold beers. There is something calming about the fire. Phones get put away and just enjoy the serenity.

I agree with this. Right now they are also the most versatile. They can use FFS they can skip docks. They can frog it. FFS is a huge thing to be able to do well. The new guys are probably the best at it. That does not mean they are well rounded in other skill sets. Whether I agree with FFS or not it’s part of the skill set you need to compete. Till that changes they need to get on board or left behind. It’s a job they are getting paid to do.

Sadly, I often see this for the real thing not training exercises. At least the last time I saw them out they were just trying to recover a gun. I am very glad everything was ok!

@Ohioguy25 I try to look at my fishing equipment as investments now. I want it to last a long time and function. I’m not trying to have all kinds of insane set ups but, I want quality in what I do have.

It’s never a bad idea to throw into an eddy or on a weed line or any other potentially fishy looking area. I don’t care if it’s winter, summer or anywhere in between. You can learn a lot by this. Sometimes an area turns on at a certain water level but, outside if that isn’t really worth it. That’s the joys of river fishing. It doesn’t ever have to make sense to us just the fish.

@Ohioguy25 to me the high end reels are zillion, bantam, Metanuim, steez, I’d say the $250-300 and up reels. I generally get the JDM stuff now. Others may feel different.

@alonerankin2 it’s got that Yamaha powering it! Kidding I think they are bother running Yamaha. I don’t know why.

I would get one of those if I had a boat that warranted it. It does seem like a no brainer to have one on.
