Favorite Spinnerbaits?

Featured Replies

Use a brand that I don't think they make anymore Hart. These are some great running spinner baits. I also use Mr Hootie which is a local made bait.

H&H lures 3/8 chartreuse and White

I like the northland reed runner 1/2 oz., they are almost indestructible. The mann's classic gives alot of vibration. Both are closed loop, never had one break.

I see a lot of people recommending the strike backs.

Do they truly have a better hook up ratio and that's where the recommendation comes from, and/or is it because of the added action the jointed section gives to your trailer?

I've been taking fish with the Megastrike Strikeback spinnerbait now for going on 3 seasons; mostly smallmouth and the occasional oversized pike.

Can't say if the hook up ratio is truly 'better' than traditional baits or not.

But I can tell you that I do fish a couple of other brands of spinnerbaits.

The Strikeback is the only one I never use or feel the need to add a trailer hook as I rarely miss or lose fish with it tied on.

YMMV

I pour a lot of my baits and try to copy good baits of the past . The Bakemore C.C. spinner with the big copper Colorado  blade is my favorite all time spinnerbait  .  One that I plan on making soon is the 1/4 ounce Fleck Weed Waders with Indiana blades . I wish I had one to get the wire lengths and blade sizes correct .

My box has a mix of Revenge, Peppers and War Eagle with some custom painted Flashover Baits thrown in.

Mr. Pike really likes to bend up spinner baits. That's why I only use Terminator Titanium spinner baits. Anything less is gonna look like a bread tie after he's done with it.

Terminator Titanium. Last for years and never have to screw with the wire. I use Picasso Colorado blades on them and change the skirts around.

I have really been doing well this summer on the 3/4 ounce single Colorado bladed spinnerbaits from Phenix Baits. They have been running a lot of specials so you might want to check Phenixbaits.com

Dumb question probably, but do you prefer mono or floro using spinnerbaits?

I have a box full, but I have three that I've had good luck with. There's many more I have not even tried.

#1) SK KVD Willow/Colorado 3/8oz in the Chartreuse Sexy Shad color. I've caught bass with this in clear water and clouded water, including my PB 20" smallie.

#2) SK KVD Willow/Willow 1/2oz in the Chrome Sexy Shad color.

#3) A 3/8oz 4 willow bladed, chartreuse colored Booyah, I think it's called the Super Shad.

War Eagle is basically what I've settled on. A few Revenge as well. Strangely enough though I did not like the war eagle buzzbaits. I thought I could keep things simple and stick with one brand for both but I'll have to stick with Cavitrons for that.
