74 will be 75 in one month. Just got Native Water Craft Slayer Propel lizard lick color. Started customizing

yesterday to get ready for the spring. As far as age 75 and I still do things that I did as a 40 year old but

mabey a little slower and more careful

Welcome, welcome. Do we have  winner here?

Seventy-two, plus 41 days.  I drove the 1,230 miles to the Road Trip last year in 23.5 hours, including three stops at rest areas to get some shuteye.  I can still get around.  No aches, no pains.

Board member "Marty" hasn't checked in yet. As I recall, he might be 70-something...

Welcome aboard Oldkayaker

You're a breath of fresh air, and unknowingly usurped Fishing Rhino, the House Father.

I'm boring down on 72 myself, but still think I'm the kid in the group...that feeling never goes away.

Oddly, the most sobering reminder of my age is learning the age of others.

Somehow,  I got 'older' than half the actors, rock stars and TV personalities of my era

First it was the teachers and cops who looked like kids.  Then it was doctors who looked like kids.  Now, almost everybody looks like kids.  Maybe my mirror is lying to me.

About 10 years ago I was sitting in traffic and had some smokin' hot 20something girls pull up beside me and motion for me to roll down my window. I was thinking to myself "Oh yeah!" Then one of them said  "Excuse me sir. We're lost. How do I get to....." It's been all downhill from there.

The other day, at a drive thru, a young lady called me "sweetheart". I said to my wife, did ya' hear that. My wife says, you probably remind her of her grandpa.

I swear i ran into the same duo in a grocery store aisle...lol. I caught them looking at me a couple of times and then they would quickly turn their heads away when i looked back,of course all kinds of things were going through my mind about the situation   that is until one of them walked up to me and said excuse me mister (ouch) can you tell us what time it is.   :cry4:

I'm 63yo but I feel like a kid when I have a bass on.

Just putting this out there for all you older folks - I only consider people old when they act old --- IE: Crabby, don't know how to joke around, and the like....

I consider people rude when they act immature, brash and disrespect anyone older than they are.

At 68 I'm still fishing offshore for larger fish, aj's, sails, cuberas and so on, plus my inshore and freshwter fishing I do everyday.............old?

Someone told me that age is just the number that tells you how many years you have had the opportunity to become mature.

I guess it's true, fishing never gets old!!

I'm 61, and while I'm not as good as I once was, I'm as good once as I ever was.

Rhino, I just saw that I am 11 days older than you.  That was a good year.

I use to say that when I grew up and got old I wanted to be just like "Uncle Si" and then I found out I'm older than he is.

I run into a good buddy of mine yesterday, John must be about 73 or 74, he's strictly a saltwater fly fisherman and he is as good at it as anyone.  He showed me some recent pics, one was 55" black tip shark caught wading, took him over an hour.  At 68 I'm one of the younger guys of my fishing buddies, it really boils down to technique over muscle when landing some of the heftier fish.  Other than myself I don't know anyone fishing freshwater in South Florida, I like both venues.

And a good month.  And a good sign, Scorpio.  Until about a month after we were born.

Here we have two perfectly reasonable viewpoints, and I agree with both.  At 57 I am old enough be challenged by brash, immature youngsters. I am also young enough to recognize that cranky, judgmental, and condescending old folk (which I sometimes am) are no fun to be around.

Age alone doesn't garner respect.

That's like having a job longer than anyone else merely by not getting fired.
