Learned a little something tonight when I rotated through a pond the second time around today right at sunset. Bass turned on like flipping a light switch. Managed 17 fish in about 45 minutes only fishing half the pond. A full pass during the day only turned up 5 or 6, and they were toward the small size. Nothing like bass chasing down, waking and crushing a topwater just off the bank in a foot or so of water :) The mosquito bites I suffered, on the other hand...

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

Club event in the Everglades yesterday, just three boats. It was hot, naturally, but thankfully moderated by cloud cover and a breeze. We met some success in a north-south canal that had a gentle current from the north. Water temp was 82 deg. The fishing was fairly slow, and there were no markings on sonar except bottom. The ticket was topwater all day, with my buddy getting a nice limit on an Eeliminator [sic], and I eventually lucked out with the SK Sexy Dawg, which, along with my fingers, was pretty scratched up by the end of the day (and I had crampy forearms from walking that Dawg for hours!). We pulled the boat out 30 seconds before the skies opened in a downpour. All-in-all a fun day.

Got on a good, very shallow frog bite around mid-day today. The best one went 4lb, and she slammed a Pad Crasher right next to the boat.1EEC2496-FC92-4AD3-8329-0977A9AC4B9C.jpeg.24eac224b9928b4998d6ab5f2245537a.jpeg

Got in a little dock fishing on Sunday. Got a Bluegill with the fly rod that was then circle hooked and parlayed into a smallmouth.

They were chewing on the punch rig for me today, went through 2 bags of baits. Gotta love the sound of braid through the line guides on the hook set!

Ran outta likes ?

Hahaha thanks @A-Jay and no as a matter of they were a Strike King product ? which seemed to work just fine. However, I was impressed with the minimal effort I need using a Trokar hook as opposed to the Owner hooks I normally use. Not sure if “Googan” gets mentioned more because of a line of baits or on Wicked Tuna ?.

tell me about it ?

Spent 4th of July week at the Cape, never fished there before. Went out 3 times, twice at the same lake. First lake best I could do was a 1.5lb'r, and a few dinks. Water was crystal clear, mostly shallow, water temps in the 80's, overall a slow day. Second lake was right by the house we were renting, first day was similar, pretty slow with a 1.5lb'r via senko being the best. The place looked like it would hold nice fish, so I went back and focused on fishing shaded little holes, and deeper water with long grass. The first days exploring paid off, and I spent most of my time in those areas with decent results.

2lbs via wacky rig senko skipped into a shady nook

3lbs with a popping pad crasher working the top of the long grassy deeper part of the lake

and a 3.5lb'r, same area with the popping pad crasher. The fish absolutely hammered the frog.

Caught a few more working the grass area on a lipless crank, nothing quite as nice, but still plenty fun.

My local honey hole has been slow, the entire lake is now one giant mat, so it's been tough to find the fish since I'm assuming they're spread out. The big mat used to be 7-8 smaller mats so it was easier to find the fish and bait.

Last nights catch on a live target 65T frog.

we seem to have developed a little thermocline thing around here and i’ve had to adjust. my deep bite has fallen off real bad. swt’s are in the 85 degree range and 17’ deep seems to be the cutoff, according to the sonar. so i’ve moved back in the creeks a little further and kept my eyes on the Garmin. found one decent area in particular, but some others weren’t so great. ground out 9 spotties and one largemouth.

Went out hoping to reproduce to previous days punch bite, leaving the house at 0500 and it was 65 degrees and barely a slight breeze, forecast high was in the upper 90’s. Tide was an hour later, water was around 73 degrees when I dropped the boat in and headed to my first spot looking forward to a little top water action.

I didn’t get anything to commit on top, so I picked up a “bladed jig” and after several casts my bait just stopped. Man, what a great feeling when your rod loads up and the fight begins knowing it’s a good fish!  She weighed 4.9lbs and my novice picture taking efforts didn’t do her justice. The chatter-bait was the ticket this morning and I decided to get off the water early before the afternoon heat set in...

3 Lbs spot on an otherwise rough fishing day on July 1st.  Oh and my first post in about a year, so hi everyone.

Slowly figuring out a thing or three fishing this newish-to-me reservoir.

The "tree" bite I found and refined the last two trips was almost nonexistent. I paddled and graphed around a lot; and found a few fish. Caught several, including these two on back-to-back casts; thought that was pretty cool.

While I have had a decent year Bass fishing, bigger fish have been fairly scarce.

last few weeks picked up a little.

I caught one that was  5lb 3 oz a couple weeks ago and another 5lb. 2oz yesterday.

Now that the weather has finally stabilized, hopefully the lakes clear up. Could be a good late summer/fall.

Some of the local reservoirs have been closed to boating for a while. they could be good once opened.

Squam is known as an excellent SM fishery.

This Summer we have been catching a LOT of LM in the same areas.  This morning numbers were low but a 5.3 LM on a NEKO in 10 feet made my day.
