Man, even though this morning was overcast and cooler than the past week, it still hit 91° as I was getting out of the water at 10:00. Slow bite. Nothing on anything but soft plastics. First one on a Zoom Z-Craw worm in California 420, the second on a Rage Bug in green pumpkin (missed one, too) and a dink on a blue/black laminate Senko WR.

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

@thediscochefI did not fish it as a TR. Or a WR. I had a rig set up for a WR and simply nose hooked it. It hit the water and that bass took it and was off in a flash. Same hit on the Rage Bug as well. More risky as far as snags than a TR but I’ve done this before and it seems to work at times that a TR or WR doesn’t.

@TnRiver46 It wasn’t bad early, but after the sun came out at 1100 the temp climbed rapidly  to 94°. On its way to 100°. I’m surprised the water felt as cool as it did.

Caught this big girl on a jig worm - 3/16 ned head with a zman fattyz. Today was great.

Hair today, gone tomorrow! ?

I caught 4 today while battling muscle cramps.  I've been plagued with cramps on and off for most of my life.  I'm not dehydrated, I'm overhydrated if anything.  I've taken pretty much every kind of supplement and remedy available.   Every now and then I'll have a couple days with terrible cramps.  Today (and yesterday) they were in my hands, and my core.  I had cramps in the side of my chest (both sides) near the bottom of my rib cage that felt like they were going to break my ribs.   It's hard to stretch out a cramp in your side.

OK back to fishing.   I got a new electronic scale.  My old one died after fishing in the rain for a week back when I was on vacation.   First bass was a skinny 19 1/2 inch  3.56 pound Largemouth on a Devils Horse.   The other 3 were smaller spots,  one on a bladed jig, one on a T-rig and one on a DT6.   I also caught a Catfish.  It wasn't tiny, but small enough to boat flip.  (Cat isn't pictured)   I lost a couple decent, but not BIG bass.  I'll soak in an Epsom salt bath tonight and hopefully be cramp free tomorrow.

Man, that sounds tough, Woody. That you went fishing while cramping shows your passion for the sport and your toughness.

Partly sunny, low 80s, but muggy. Heaviest rain went north and south of us, so no big changes to water color. Very few bass hanging around the shallows, so went jighead wacky and fished just over the breakline in deeper water and caught 10. Nothing big (largest 17”) but very feisty and a lot of jumpers.

@Team9nine: I love when they're "very feisty and a lot of jumpers."

It’s been a minute since I caught a decent River Smallmouth. Life has kept me busy with a new dog and aging parents. It’s been hard to find time to fish.

It was one of those days where I thought I was going to get skunked then this beauty showed up.

I caught 7 today between 5:15 and 9:45.  The first was a decent Largemouth on my second cast.  It fought like a real largemouth too, walking on it's tail all the way to the boat.  I didn't weigh it.  It was 1/4" short of the 18 inch mark I have on my boat.   The rest were spots, 13" and less.  The first and last are pictured.   First was on a Devils Horse, the others were on a T-rig.  I'm going to have to make a night trip and fish from midnight to daylight or so to catch some more topwater Largemouth.  The heat has me zapped lately.  I figure staying up all night fishing will make me tired for a week.   I need to tell my body I'm 40 years younger so I can stay up all night.   Working 45 to 50 hours a week is interfering with my fishing.

Went fishing with wife, her brother and his wife. It was very windy, and it seemed nothing was biting other than the tiny bluegill/pumpkin seed. I hooked two good fish but lost them both. The one might've been a new PB, but he took my lure. Check your knots, folks. It really hurts when you're too hasty and lose a good one because of it. A couple seconds after he broke free I saw him jump out of the water, my lure still on the side of his mouth, trying to shake those hooks. Sad day.

Oh, and I got my haircut for those who care. ?

My expression sums up my emotions during this trip. My wife tried to console me by saying, "Don't worry, honey. You have to live up to your screen name."

I'm thinking you lost your mojo when your hair was cut. May I call you Sampson?

Really bad weather today, lightning and thunder all day. I went out and first cast...fish for 7/16. I will go back out if mother nature please takes away the lightning! Not a bass, but I will add to this when the storm lets up.

Well I'm speechless.  I got a fishing story to tell but I'm sunburned and smitten with how happy I am.
