Hit a local reservoir today, it had been drawn down for dam repairs and was at 53% capacity, capacity is now at 97.5%
With the capacity now full, there are much needed nutrients in the water with the pumping in of water from the river, the visibility was around 11' with is quite clear but before the pumping it was almost at 20'
Started out getting 5 fish pretty quickly then the wind picked up and that area died out.
Went searching but it was tough with the wind.
Wind died down and was able to get back on some fish.
Wound up with 12 fish landed, 9 Largemouths, 2 Smallmouths and got another trout.
Again all fish were on a drop shot in 18' to 30'

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

Got out after work and captured two nice ones, my buddy got his with Texas rig worm and I got mine with a besotted popper. The LM flew up out of the water when it hit, I thought it had jumped over the lure but luckily it was hooked. Water temp 74 and swift

I fished an especially pretty pond this morning, launching in the dark. I used a spinnerbait, underspin, Spook, and fluke and caught fish on all four, but the spinnerbait caught the most. I ended with 25, but took no fish pics because they were only 15" to 16", aka two-pounders.

I used one all morning and it caught bass, for sure, plus IT DID NOT BREAK. Thanks for the tip!

I predict that the heat will break for @Team9nine and that he'll catch four or five bass, including one that'll break five pounds. What lure will he use? Well, that's a little hazy for me. A Fred? A Jed? I'm just not sure, but I'm pretty confident about the rest of my prediction.

I further predict that @thediscochef will catch four or five bass too, including one nice one.

Let's see if I'm right.

Finally got a cool snap after another week and a half of 90+ degree weather. Snuck out for a few hours this afternoon despite some gusty winds. Managed 4 bass on Ned, including one good one (>5 lbs.). Winds are supposed to die down a little the next couple days, along with more cloud cover. Hoping to get another trip in. Surface temps still ~81 degrees.

Went fishing twice yesterday, caught 5 total. Not great but better than it's been going. I mostly fished in the rain, I'm gonna need to regrease a few reels this week. Started off with a super dink Lm on a wacky rig. Then two spotted bass on a choppo 120. That night I had two decent LM one on a red eye shad and one on a chatterbait. They're all mixed up with the abrupt arrival of fall around 8pm Monday but it's nice to pick some off

Started out this morning at the top of the tide with 73 degree water temps and the slightest breeze. And yes, I figured there’d be a topwater bite to begin the day only to find out it wasn’t happening. As the tide fell, sun got higher and the air temperature streaked towards triple digits I once again found them under the mats. This was my best fish of the day, a 3.52lber that hammered my creature bait as it went through the mat.

Besides taking me more than the morning to find any decent biters,

the few I did poke were all middle of the road trophies in training.

Located some bass on bait (perch) at the very bottom of a weed line in front of a point.

Bites came on the 1/2 oz Jackhammer / Zako combo down in about 10 feet.

Different lake, similar result. Half a dozen bass this afternoon, with just one worth a photo. The ones I found were roaming just outside the edge of a flat on the lower end of the lake. Same water temps (81) and about half a foot below pool. Ned

Well doesn't that sound awfully familiar to what I'm seeing in TX at night. At least as of last weekend. By now, who knows, maybe they all went to the other side of the lake.

Ya gotta admire this little bass's ambition. 5" Tuff Shad. He even got the front hook.

The tough muskie bite continues, but I did break my three trip slump with this 38" this morning, on a 22 Short, burned over deep coontail. Water temps are on the way down again, and the forecast looks good other than continued drought. The bite should be picking up shortly. 🤞

Droughts are good in Appalachia, the alternative is usually being swept away

The alternative is the only reason we have any lakes in my neck of the woods. They're all man made reservoirs built for flood control by the Corps of Engineers.

The only places I’ve been able to fish lately are the ACE reservoirs (Dillion and Burr Oak). They are only ones that aren’t 3-4 feet below pool like the local reservoirs closer to me that are maintained by the state or local municipalities.

Had to hit the reservoir  again today before the rain tomorrow.
Wound up with another 12 fish day, 6 Largemouths, 5 Smallmouths and one Rock Bass.
Lost about 6 fish on the jump. One was really nice Smallie that I hooked and thought I lost it, it was charging the kayak and I thought it wasn't on, well it was and kept coming up and I lost it on the jump.
I got hung up on the bottom and had to retie my drop shot rig as I lost the whole rig, of course I loosen up the drag to retie, cast it out and got a nice hit,,well it went zzzzzzzzzz and no fish, forgot to tighten up dragEmoji
From what I can see on this thread we should always post a pic of of Rock Bass

One more trip this afternoon under relatively cool conditions (high 80 and cloudy). Picked up 4 keeper bass cranking today (DT-4) including another good one that I thought might go 6, but came up a few ounces short. First two pics are the same fish; 3rd pic is one of the other keepers.

Thumbs down for those fake bass. They are an embarrassment.

Hit a buddies pond in the rain this evening for a 1/2 hour. Caught 2 on the frog and 3 Fluke. I think that they're bass, just very tiny bass.😄

@GreenPig: Your bass might not be big, but I still admire your catches because, whereas I catch bass on frogs and flukes, I don't catch many. I fished a fluke several times yesterday morning and didn't even trigger a strike. The bass in my pond go for bigger, flashier lures like spinnerbaits and Whopper Ploppers.
