Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)

Featured Replies

I'm kind of pleased that I have not spent a dime on tackle since I put the boat in storage in late October.

Last year was an absolutely abysmal fishing season and my wife suggested I was over thinking everything. And, of course, she was right, so I took some time off.

But I know I'll fall victim to the bait monkey about mid- April.

Can't wait!

Come to think of it, I really DO need a new sonar unit...

I really like the feel of my HMG in hand, I can't wait to get out and fish with it, it's been an awful wait since Christmas :annoyed1:

scored on (3) 10'' MattLures Dead Twitch swimbaits for $30 each !! at the tackle expo in Long Beach ,Ca today i stopped by the American Tackle booth and was given some stuff to try out , (2) sets of MicroWave casting guide sets , one is the standard casting guides and the other is a Micro guide set plus a spool of Bushido flourocarbon , 16lb. line feels pretty good , very smooth , not much stretch , pretty supple for that lb. test , i'll see how it works out !!

The bait monkey got me again...he is so strong and I am weak...went into bass pro to check out the sale, not really impressive but I did find more than I anticipated. The bucoo Sr was from tackle warehouse I just got it in yesterday so I snuck into the picture.

I got absolutely obsessed with dirty jigs last year.  This year I am forcing myself to get into cranking after pulling in a ton of fish late fall with the lipless cranks.  My last order was a ton of jerkbaits so I am going to be having fun with moving baits in the spring!

Tackle Warehouse 3-3-17.PNG

Did you mean to order the 190 size whopper plopper?  Cause' it is like 8 inches long, weighs 2 3/4 ounces and sounds like a brick landing in the water.  It's the original sized wp, wuich was designed as a musky bait.  Tackle warehouse once accidentally sent me the 190 instead of the 90 size, and I was surprised at how big it was.  Needless to say, I returned it.

Are you trying to imply we can't catch bass in Indiana with an 8" lure???

It's hard for me not to pick up a few Baby 1 minuses and Redeye Shads every time I stop by a bps. They aren't the best price but always have colors seldom seen elsewhere.

Lol keep us posted on the 190. I'm thinking of grabbing one myself to throw on my swimbait rod after all the fish I caught on the 130 last year.

I really like it so far. Excellent craftsmanship and is really light. I may run out this morning and give it a test drive.

Stopped at a pond for a few hours, fishing was tough but managed two on a dropshot. The new bucuu is great, casts even small lipless cranks like a dream. Loads up beautifully and is very sensitive. Didn't catch one on it but so far very happy with it.

Can't wait to start throwing my stutterstep. Funny thing is, if I were to see it in person I would've never bought it given it's sheer size. Buuut, after watching countless videos and getting a good deal online I had to have one.

Yeah, it's a big bait which made me leery of buying one. But watching the videos of the action got me hooked, lol.

The Bait Monkey drove me to Bass Pro, and then threw a few things that were on sale into my cart.

Ill be glad when the sale if finally over and the foot traffic clears out.I cant stand it in there during the classic. Its great when you go in there at 4pm on a Tuesday and you have the place to yourself and can take your time.Plus you dont have to park all the way down by Olive Garden.

I had to have one more jerkbait... It's only one more. I swear. And my gf told me that it was OK ?

(just have a 'scent rag' ready to wiper off your fingers and I wouldn't recommend using the same one to clean your sunglass lenses).

I won't ask you how you know @A-Jay

Yeah, and your right you do need a stink rag with this stuff... I always forget to bring one... it sucks having dead craw scent up your nose, if you catch my drift.
