No toilet paper in today's delivery, but Jackhammers were!

I picked up some small stuff while venturing out into the danger zone yesterday at Walmart & Ollie's.

Walmart had some Frogg Toggs rain pants for $7.49 in their fishing clearance section, it's a youth size L/XL, but I'm 6ft. 170 lbs and they fit fine. They should be good for early Spring and Late Fall kayaking when the water is cold. They did have a jacket also, but is was size S/M, and no way that was happening. The Monkey and I also couldn't refuse picking up a few more Bitsy Bugs for like $1.74 and I'm trying some Cotton Cordell Lipless out for the first time.

I also went to Ollie's to get some more of that $3.99 Vicious 330 yds line, but the Monkeu picked out a few other things while there including my first Luck-E-Strike lures. They still had plenty of Chatterbaits for $3.99 there, but I resisted them.

I actually found the Chartreuse Squarebill in the 2nd pic, while fishing yesterday. I'm not sure of the brand, but it weighs 1/2 oz and looks brand new. I think it was a present from the Bait Monkey for doing such a good job lately.

Time will tell but the Bubble walker 80 looks identical to the Popmax for half the price. Really happy I picked one up.

The Bubble Walker is a great bait. I've never done any good on a Popmax, but I've killed them on a Bubble Walker 80 many, many times.

What kind of rod/reel do you recommend for the BW, Blue?

I fish mine on either a 6' 2" M/XF or 6' 8" M/F, both with 20lb braid and a 7.2 reel.

Is that your same setup for a jerkbait?

Yes, except I fish a slower reel and mono with a jerkbait. The 6' 2" is better for when I want to fish it in place. The 6' 8" is better when I'm moving the bait forward more.

I've been debating between a 7 or 8 for a jerkbait reel. Being that you want some slack in the line and move the baits with your rod I was leaning towards the 8 to take up slack quickly. But you seem to like a 7 for this?

I use a 6.3 for jerkbaits. I find I overfish my jerkbaits with a faster reel. I do have one jerkbait rod with a 7 ratio reel but I use it for big jerkbaits I fish when the water is warm and I'm moving them very fast. All the rest of my jerkbait reels are 6 ratios and even had a 5.0:1 I used for quite awhile before switching to all 6 ratios for continuity.

I am completely new to jb fishing. I bought a jb specific rod and about 20 nice jerkbaits for the job. I was thinking with an 8 I could just give it half or a full turn easily enough and not have to worry about it much. But I could certainly see over reeling it. Which I knew what to do LOL

Well my trip to Canada is canceled, so now I've got a bunch of money saved up in my Paypal that I was going to use towards that trip, or I guess I should say I had a bunch of money saved up in my Paypal ?

Cool stuff.

Bought a Dobyns Fury 733 during the SO 40% off sale, so of course had to get a new reel for it as well.  My new Lew's Tournament MP reel arrived today, still waiting on the rod.

So, going from a single divider box to a plano system. It's the Plano 1374. Three things prompted this purchase. 1. I've been adding more to what is still a modest bait collection. 2. The price was right. Amazon (walmart too) $33. Most places it's $49-$69. Some places it's up to $129, what's with that?  3. During the lockdown I gifted myself for staying incognito.

Anyway, I must admit it seems like a good system and looks to be well made. The only complaint people have is that the handle can expand under weight and pop off. Solutions seem to be a string around it to hold it together. I'll have to wait and see what happens.

Bait monkey, or I should say reel monkey, hit me hard today. Was watching a couple musky videos and the guys were using tranx HGs with the power handle and it pushed me over the edge. All the tranx I have right now are the low gear ones so now I have a tranx 400 hg and a st croix premier 9 ft xh that’s rated for up to 16 oz lures on the way along with some 80 lbs maxcuatro and a handful of new musky baits. Can’t wait to throw big rubber and suicks on it, won’t use it for any bass fishing really. This is replacing an okuma 8’6” xxh with a Calcutta b, selling the rod keeping the reel. Gotta love it when sitting on the couch turns into a 600 purchase

Well it finally happened.  Never thought I'd turn to yak fishing but it had to be done.  Along with the boat, I ordered:

- Accent Lanai paddle

- Kokatat Leviathan pdf

- Cart carrier

- Yak cover

- Dry Bag

- scupper plugs

- ratchet straps

- bungees

- Plano sportsmans trunk

- Crate

- Paracord

- Cable lock and pad locks

Crazy how much crap you need for these things!  All this is on the heels of a Daiwa Coastal SV/Quantum Tour S3 purchase. Suppose I'm doing my part to help the economy...yeah...that justifies it all...

I ordered another Antares 12 but when I opened the box it was a 19 70A Left.  I ordered it from a store on eBay in Japan but it shipped directly from Shimano.  It took 3 weeks to get here.  Just holding it, it is nothing like the 12.  I really can't compare it to anything else I have fished with.  I am hoping to take it on the water tomorrow.   Definitely an awesome surprise.  I thought I had order this reel (the 19) from another vendor but I failed to read the description properly and got the 12, which I kept.  This makes up for it...

I needed some new underwear and while I was at Amazon I tacked on a pack of Zoom Super Speed Craws to try, and a pack of VMC Neko hooks to try wacky rigs on.

Actually I think the underwear was last - had to spend more get the free shipping!

Bait Monkey reminds me about the fish finder I want but I don't want to buy it until I can actually use it in case I need to return it. Can't use the yak yet.
