Nice! I have 2, got em both for 50$. I like them, but they aren't as nice as my more expensive reels. Ended up selling one to make the other one free. I currently have it on a light jig/spinnerbait rod, but will be moving it to my swim jig rod for a while until fall when it will meet its final resting place on a cheap 6'6" M jerkabit rod

I've got 2 other ones that are beaters, great reel for bank fishing and letting other people use. The scorpion is so nice man, it's a looker man. I think more people should check it out

Bantam paired with an expride, chronarch with an imx pro, curado k on a dobyns fury 735c. All new for this season. Bait monkey got me good this year...

Project Z Weedless. I've always been hesitant to throw my Jackhammers close to pad fields at 16 bux a pop. The pads are just breaking the surface and haven't yet filled in, so it's primetime.  I'll be braver with these. Got em Buy 3 get 1 free from DSG.

Beat the bank with it for a bit yesterday. Throwing a 3/8 jig. Coming from the SLX rod, the sensitivity is insane. Didn’t catch anything,  it it was pretty amazing to feel it bump off something and know exactly what I was hitting.

5 new Dobyns showed up today, I think the bait monkey knows my debit card # by heart now.

 

Poor, poor Gary. First he had to offer a "limited" edition series of rods for his loyal customers to give their feedback on so he could determine if he could actually put them in to production. Now that the Covid has hit he is having to give such a discount to his loyal facebook super duper members only secret page. I sure hope he is able to make it through since no one will buy rods from him.

Maybe just a couple eventually. 702sf is replacing a Lew's TP-1 ML, so I got a spinning reel for it. The 734c has a SLX DC on it already, and the 736 has Revo X 5.4.1 from the rod it replaced. I don't have one yet for the 735c or 663c yet, but I do have a Abu Pro Max and Black Max on some backup rods if I need them. I just sold My Fuego CT a couple of weeks ago and now regret it, I could of used it for the 735. I'm in no hurry to get any reels right now, because I won't ever take 13 Dobyns rods with me at once, so I can double up for now.

What reel did you get for yours?

 

I got one of those rods this year myself - putting the President-25 that HAD been my UL reel on it. Got a President-20 for the UL.

I already had a Shimano Sienna that I got on sale for $20 about 3 months ago. I don't spend much on spinning gear, it's not something I do a lot of. My best spinning reel is only a Daiwa Revros LT, but it's on a St.Croix right now.

 

I love the Revros and I think the Sienna is also good for the price, but I can't really say as I've never used a high end spinning reel.

 

I always hear great things about the President though, I will probably give them a try in the future.

 

What all do you use your 702sf for? The TP-1 ML has softer tip but not as strong, and it has a microwave guide.

If you do go for the President - make sure it's a 2019 or earlier model...they did some redesign and from what I've heard it's not as good anymore. I have been impressed with the Trion-30 I used last year, and got a 35 for my MH spinning rig.

 

President-25 on the 702SF is my new finesse rig - replaces the Mitchell Avocet combo I used last year. Avocet is now my shore-fishing rig - stored in the truck rather than on the canoe.

I agree on not spending a ton on spinning reels. Tonight trout fishing, I was using a Shakespeare Excursion ($20) that has got to be 20 years old now that has caught me a ton of bass. At some point I will retire it, but it just keeps working lol. Most expensive spinning reels are either the Daiwa Regals or the Presidents, but since both were bought on sale no clue which is the pricier reel. The only thing with the Daiwas is they break bail springs. All 3 have broke at least one, not sure why they haven't fixed the issues.

 

No clue why other than the monkey I would need an expensive spinning reel. Baitcasters I get to a point because of the casting controls.
