I think I finally settled on a reel for my Xtasy 723c, I got this Tatula SV TW103 last week and it feels great together.

I did have a Tatula 100 on it, but my brief experiment with left handed reels has ended already and so far this has been my favorite Daiwa reel out of the Tatula 100, Tatula CT Type-R, Catalina TW, which were all three handed reels. The Catalina was super nice also, but I just like the smaller size and weight of this Tatula SV better.

As far as people comparing the SV spool to the Shimano DC reels, I would say they are close, but the DC still seems a little better in the wind, but I haven't spent as much time with the SV yet as the DC, so my opinion might change. But, the biggest difference between this reel and my DC is the weight, this one weights over an 1 oz less. So I would say SV for lighter rods and DC for heavier rods, IMO.

Will do! It seems pretty sensitive in hand and at home testing, I’ll be out tomorrow and give it the full test.  As if right now it has a lot of backbone with a pretty soft tip. It’s a lot softer than some of my other Mh tips which are Pretty stiff.  I’ll be using this for small open hook swimbaits and weedless. Maybe a few other applications so I’m liking the soft tip

@FryDog62 soo update on the new Daiwa Rebellion rods. They are very aesthetically pleasing to the eye as all foreign rods are. I had the 7 3 Mh/f rod and it looked great, everything was lined up correctly and no issues with guides etc. I weighed it on my scale at 4.4 -4.5 oz depending on how it sat but with this being said it felt awkward. I don’t like the real seat as I like to palm my whole reel in my hand and the trigger part was higher up it felt like and it was rubbing shading my pinky pretty hard. It made it awkward for me to set the hook or to feel as much. The sensitivity wasn’t horrible but not as good as I wanted for a 200$ rod. I usually use ALX rods and find that for the extra 15$ I would rather go with a ALX zolo series than this. I will give credit as the rebellion has a lot of power in the backbone and it was a nice soft tip, it loaded very well as I was casting a 1/4 oz swimbait and up to a 1/2 oz with ease. It seemed “bulkier” than most rods tho. I would compare it to a shimano zodias in terms of sensitive but the zodias “feels” better to me personally.  It didn’t fit neatly into my hands and the blank seemed bigger than normal.. I ended up returning it and just going with my usual.. I upgraded a little bit and got the ALX ENOX series rod the decoy... now this I know is going to be amazing when I get it. I have a few zolo series so I can only imagine what the step up would be. More to follow on that rod when it comes in

Thank you for the update! I was only  asking because I too have a Rebellion coming in but in the 7’ M spinning model. The HVF had me curious because I have a Tatula Bass that uses the SVF blank and I find that rod for the money to be quite sensitive. Anyways thanks again for the review!

Getting ready for frogging season, hopefully if it ever warms up and stays that way. This was a hard color for me to find for anything very close to retail price, not sure why.

Small order from former BR sponsor Bizz Baits just arrived:

BIzz200511.thumb.jpg.da9aaad0b6d0c5e796edaf1d04eb541b.jpg

They have a very good stickworm (the Sassy Stick), and excellent laminate colors, very cleanly-done.  Some of their bait designs:

Weather really has not been that cooperative up here in the north country hope it changes soon.  I ordered about 100 bucks worth of tungsten weights ( only the 1/2 oz is shown).

So far I ordered a lot of 6 war eagle spinner baits which, came in various sizes and unique colors I can’t wait to throw.  I also had another 2 pack of 1/2 white lime color show

What came that really excites me are these kvd 1.5 silent flat side cranks.  Package says square bill but, they don’t have a square bill.  I’m hopping these will replace  my bomber 6a and 7 a cranks.  Even though, I have caught plenty on the 4A size bombers I can’t buy a bite on the bigger bomber cranks. Trying to fill the medium depth hole in my crank arsenal

Have you used these before?  If you have what do you think?  If not let me know what you think, have been looking at those for a few weeks now.

Haven’t had a chance to throw them but they are supposed to be a good copy of the old zoom wec. They look really nice out of the box. I was to lazy to take them out the box and lay them out. Now that’s lazy. Also a couple of the cbs whith the circuit board lips. These baits look b e u i te Full !

Awesome!  If you think of it after you use them let me know what you think!

Alright, so I ended up getting rid of my Lews and Abu reels.  Out of all that I traded 2 reels to get myself a new Tatula 100P - a good light crankbait reel that I installed on a St Croix 7' Premier medium power crankbait rod.

I also happened along a woman where I live that sold me a brand new T3 Ballistic for 25 bucks.  Her husband died last fall and I bought some ice fishing gear from her so she told me I could have it for 25.  I immediately ordered bearings and installed those today as well as put on better handle and knobs.  Pretty stoked about this reel.

I also had to get a few things from the local tackle shop because my friend gave me some money for tackle for helping him out...

I just wanna say that I have a friend with the opposite problem. He won't spend anything on fishing, and he has the money.

"I'd rather fish these lakes for free and catch nothing than spend money and time to catch"

Huh?!?!?

So he does just that - spends little, won't travel an hour to one of the best fisheries in the country (The Delta), or a bit farther to another top fishery (Clear...something...?), catches virtually nothing, and he says he's fine with that. I know he's full of crap but he's stubborn or something.

That ain't me so I just won't ask him to go anymore! The Bait Monkey is my friend 'til the end!

That's why he has the money.

seriously though, I am lucky to still rely on buy parents for food water shelter etc. I work many hours and very hard in order to fund my fishing. My entire life plan revolves around me literally saving every cent I can when I live on my own. I am planning on renting/buying a super basic and small apartment, cooking cheap healthy food, and minimizing non essentials, fishing being essential. I will allow spending on anything that improves quality of life, ie dentist workout gear, healthy foods, etc. I have developed a mentality and am fully prepared to commit to it, her, I already have!

edit: looked through recent purchases on debit card, all fishing/boating except gas. long live the bait monkey!
