Looking for some suggestions on two different crankbaits.

1) best flat crankbait

2) best silent crankbait

3) any that are best of both worlds?

Anything I should focus on for crankbaits in New England since there is no real shad population. I usually go after a blue Gil pattern, chartreuse for stained and overcast days and sometimes the whiter patterns for clear sunny days. Any input would be great, thanks folks!

The SK kvd square bill chartreuse black back and blue gill are great in those waters. The green shad 3xd is good. My second largest ct bass a 4.95 came on a rapala shadrap in walleye.

There are so many to choose from, I cant keep up with all the new lures. The Bomber Flat A Is a real good bait for current and open water. The Rick Clunn  Luck E Strike lures from Wal Mart are not bad  for a silent lure . 

I caught tons of fish on a kvd 1.5 in sexy shad so I'm not sure if the color is that big a deal. But I also caught a bunch on livetarget square bill in bluegill so I don't know. I just love throwing crankbaits anyway.

Flat: The Cabelas Flat Side Porkchop has a text book perfect hunting action, or at least the one I have does. and that puts the bait head a shoulders above a lot of the competition in my book.  The Rapala DT Flats especially the Flat 3 are great baits and are very quiet but not silent.

 

I was looking for the best money can buy then I'd be trying some of these custom built wooden baits many of which are both flat and silent. 

I strongly recommend the KVD 1.5, they are excellent baits and don't break the bank (comes in tons of colors too). I have also done well with the 1.0, haven't fished a 2.5 yet. Eager to try the new wakebait.

I really like the bomber, strike king, storm arashi, and have bought a few yo-zuri baits that I like.

Flat would be a Little John.

 

Silent I'd go with a KVD 1.5 or LC 1.5. 

I had really good luck with the flat sided spro MD last year.  Great crankbait  IMO.  Not sure if you can get it silent or not, but otherwise might want to check out the arashi series from storm.  I think they offer a flat and a silent version.

The 6th Sense Crush Flat 75X Crankbait has been Very Good for me.  And although not a "silent" bait, it does have a very subtle sound.  Not like the traditional rattle produced by steel beads against the plastic body of the bait, but more of a subdued thumping.  Don't know for sure but it sounds like a single perhaps rubber coated ball that IMO is just enough.   

 

The 5/8 oz size is a little bigger, cast well and does seem to draw strikes from the slightly better than average bass on a regular basis.  This bait works very well at both a very slow speed and being burned as well as anything in between.

 

The color patterns are great and the Bluegill has been the top producer for me.

I really think it depends on price range. In terms of value... BPS XPS series lures for 4.29 or 6.99 offer pretty good quality for the money. They're are a ton of options though. I also like the Academy brand baits, and the Cabela's stuff. I've heard good things about the Arishi series of bait, and wan't to try them.. I'ss have to drop some money though... They're is a guy selling them in the Flea Market, but he already sold the ones I wanted. 

Thanks folks.  It is a bit tough to find the best of both worlds, the KVD Flat 1.5.  This is silent as well.  Most of the others suggested are either not flat or not silent.  Ill keep looking and post anything else I find.  

spro cranks and SK cranks have always been my fav.

Hard to beat the LC RC 1.5 series.

I fish a lot in New England. Mostly in Maine and Vermont. It is very difficult to beat SK kvd 1.5s and 2.5s. My favorite colors are chartreuse black back, tennesee shad, crawfish and  yellow perch. I prefer to use the 1.5 when I am looking to catch numbers of fish. They still will certainly catch big fish. If I am specifically targeting the larger fish then the 2.5s are the way to go. Some of the biggest bass I have caught have been on the 2.5s.
