Never dealt with fluorocarbon before figured I'd try it this season for crank baits. What should I go with? Seaguar? P-line? Trilene? Vanish? I have used Berkeley lines in the past with no complaints... All my reels this season are spooled with suffix should I just stick with suffix and use there flouro?

What's wrong with the mono line you got on right now? But if you got the cash most brands in the 20+dollar/200 yards spool are good.  Only crank rod i use fc on is my dd rod and its seagar invisx the line has stretch to help out the treble hooks plus you get that tick in your line on slack bites. Stay away from the cheaper fluro lines and good luck.

Why for crankbaits? I've mostly gone away from fluoro but used to use it for my bottom contact baits but never for cranks. Seems like you'll just be spending a bunch of extra money for minimal benefits. 

I could see fluorocarbon for shallow cranks in cover for the abrasion resistance but that's about it.  I use it mostly for leaders. 

Monofilament is a better choice for crankbaits and for that matter, all treble hooks. Fluorocarbon as a mainline or leader would be my choice for bottom contact presentations.

 

Nothing wrong with using fluoro for crankbaits. I use it all the time - most pros on Tour do, too. If you haven't messed with it much, then stick with something basic initially and you'll be fine; InvisX, XPS fluoro or Trilene 100%.

InvisX is a great crankbait fluoro line. Actually has a good bit of stretch and really allows for more feel on the heavier rods required to get deep divers down. I use 12# on a MH/MF and have had no complaints.

Trilene 100% is a decent fluoro, Vanish....is not. Personally I use the 100% and haven't needed to go anywhere else. 

Seaguar Red Label is a good "budget" fluorocarbon. I use it for leaders, and have never had a reel fully spooled with it. I am not a fan of fluoro as a main line, but when I have used it, I have tried Trilene 100%, Vanish, Seaguar Inviz-X and Seaguar Abraz-X...............the Seaguar lines were far better than the Berkley lines.

Another "budget" fluorocarbon you might consider is Gander Mountain fluoro.  400 yards for $20.  I've been using 10# on a baitcaster for about a month and have no complaints yet.  Strong knots, good abrasion resistance, very manageable.  I use KVD Line & Lure conditioner.  I don't fish crankbaits though so have no opinion on this line with that technique.

FC Sniper if you don't mind paying more, InvisX if you want to pay less.

I agree with this. I fish straight 14# Sniper on my finesse jigs and 12# InvisX on my cranks.. both have been great to me.

If you want a good FC, Sunline Sniper is what you want but I, like some, use mono for crankbaits. I want some stretch in my cranking line.

Don't get vanish unless you want your baits to vanish,that stuff is no good! 

Sunline is my preferred line brand. FC Sniper, Shooter, and even Super Fluoro are all good lines.

Ilike invisx and abrasx for cranks.  For bottom contact i prefer a higher end line like tatsu or shooter.

Biggest thing to remember is to use kvd line n lure religiously.  I spray it on about halfway in while im spooling,  put a extra good shot on after i spool, and when i am prepping my gear again nite before i go. I will even add a spritz if my rods are sittting for a while between uses.  

If i manage my backlashes and keep it sprayed i can get a year out of high end lines like tatsu and 6months or more out of the invisx and abrasx. 

Don't overlook BPS Flouro.  I buy it on sale every year and have been using it for 10 years now.  Their 14lb is .013 " diameter, which is smaller than most brands.  I read somewhere that Sunline makes their flouro and someone here may know for sure.  I have reels where it has been on for two years and works fine.  I find it to be really limp and strong.

A Seaguar rep told me they make the BPS fluorocarbon, but it is a different formula than they use for their own branded products. 

 

Shooooooot Junyer, I get a couple yrs out of my lines doing the same exact thing you're doing.  I don't fish more than 15-20 trips a year though.  Haven't noticed any issues yet.

Yes, please don't use Vanish. That way, I can have it to myself, since I've never had a problem with it. 

 

I use 2lb Vanish for my trout leaders and it's held up well!
