Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 10, 2016 Global Moderator Share Posted July 10, 2016 Not the fish I was hoping for, but watching a big channel cat eat a bladed jig next to the boat is still pretty cool!
Lucky Craft Man
Not a big fish by any means, but it was my first caught on my homemade Musky A-Rig (there's always an element of pride in catching a fish on a lure you made/tied)

I did get the idea from watching Aaron's video and I made a 3, 4, and 5 arm model. I caught that fish on the three armed model.
Super User A-Jay Posted July 15, 2016 Super User Share Posted July 15, 2016 You're a wild man - 10 hours ? Ya, I'd be done in 10 minutes and be looking for something a little more Deltoid - friendly . . What about a Musky sized Ned Rig - we could call it a Med Rig . . . Sure would be easier to fish A-Jay
bassh8er
Beat my PB walleye from earlier this year by 3/4" in South Dakota this last weekend. Was able to hit 27" by a hair on the tape.

Penguino
Was fishing for Crappie with nightcrawlers, in a pond with only bluegill, crappie, and bullheads. Instead, all I caught were black bullheads that were ~1 pound or so that fought really hard. Also managed to poke myself with one of the dorsal fins by accident. Lastly, right before I left, I saw a huge koi swimming around in the shallows. Anybody got any tips for bait or lures?

alexczarn
I have caught koi the same way I've caught European carp, hair rig/simple sliding sinker to hook with corn or bread(dough)
YoTone
I wasnt even targeting anything. i was out there just to practice my frogging retrieves. at best i was hoping for a 1lbs lmb.. around 7.5 and 8. i say that because this fish was caught before by a friend back in june and we weighed her at 7.5 lbs. so i figure she must of gotten bigger since. Super User Master Bait'r Posted July 29, 2016 Super User Share Posted July 29, 2016 You know it's illegal to put those back in the water, right? Good eating too!!
YoTone
thanks but maybe YOU should read up on whats illegal in the state it was caught in regarding to this species before commenting.
Super User Master Bait'r Posted July 29, 2016 Super User Share Posted July 29, 2016 *sigh* I don't actually know or care where you are at this very moment, but per your "location", the PA FBC's website had this to say: IF YOU CATCH ONE Anglers catching snakeheads should dispose of them properly. Anglers suspecting they have caught a snakehead are encouraged to NOT release it, and report it to the Commission at 610-847-2442 or via email. So while yes, you may be technically correct in it not being ILLEGAL to re-release one in PA the bigger picture is that it's that way because they aren't prevalent enough to call for a law on it yet- and the FBC is literally asking for your help in figuring out where they even are at this point. Perhaps YOU should read up on proper disposal of them! In any case if you don't care about responsible enjoyment of the waterways, I can't make you. Have a nice day sir, and enjoy your lunkershare snakehead management efforts. Lol.
YoTone
Thanks for assuming that it was in public waters, man. but keep up the blabbering and assumptions of what i did or what occurred after the catch.
Super User Master Bait'r Posted July 29, 2016 Super User Share Posted July 29, 2016 Cool well just so you know... PA REGULATIONS It is unlawful for a person to sell, purchase, offer for sale or barter live snakehead species in Pennsylvania. It is unlawful to possess live snakehead species in Pennsylvania. It is unlawful to introduce or import live snakehead species into Pennsylvania waters. Transportation of live snakehead species in or through Pennsylvania is prohibited. So I'm not sure how the fish was introduced into said private pond, how long he plans on possessing it or how many times you boys catch something before you kill it and actually I don't really care but have a nice day in any case. Just trying to be helpful. Lots of people don't know or care and I like to imagine us all as not being part of that. When you said he caught it before I took you two for people who had no idea how bad snakeheads are- Sorry if that isn't the case!
