  • Got out for a short trip today. 7:30 - 11:30.  It was a balmy 31 degrees, with a cool refreshing breeze blowing 10-15 out of the north. The ol rock pile produced again, giving up a 40" and a 31". Gott

Terrible photo, but here is one from me and my wife's trip out to Montana/Wyoming. My first Cutthroat trout - caught this one on the fly rod, took a good hour and 30 minutes to get one out of the gross ventre river. Hit a small brown dry fly.

You nailed it!

Haven't been fishing in a while. But tonight I walked to a nearby golf course, vacant and partially flooded after Tropical Storm Eta's wet, violent rampage through southern Florida. I've always caught plenty of aggressive bass after a cyclone passes for some unknown reason, and today was no different, in spite of the high and turbid water. After landing several bass, my little Booyah squrebill got bit by something big. I thought it was a large bass at first, but after it started pulling drag a second and third time I realized it must be a big snakehead.

Thats fun stuff right there - those guys will pull you all over the place.

Some tiny pike but they sure do hit hard. Sadly, these will be my last fish of 2020 ?. I don’t ice fish so now begins the painfully slow wait for next spring!

A mess of crappies would make a nice dinner on a college football Saturday.

I  went surf fishing today at a spot at south ponte vedra beach Ive fished since childhood. Im sure Ive caught more fish there total than anywhere else Ive surf fished.

Today was nothing to write home about, but It was fun to get out there.

The big clod of seaweed was my hardest fight of the day but I prevailed ?.  I did have something real big on a whole small whiting. Probably a shark but he came off somehow. Also had something bite a whiting off at the hesd as I was reeling it in.

Ended up with 6-7 whiting , 4 bluefish, 2 catfish, a pompano and a palometa ( cousin to pompanos.

Will have sore shoulders for awhile due to all the seaweed clumps I reeled it.

Still, Ive had much worse days.!!

Temps were in the low 30’s when I started fishing yesterday morning.  My target species was Yellow Perch. Nothing on worm and bobber.

I switched to a Ned Rig and sloooooowly retrieved it along the bottom. Took awhile but eventually I got a Chain Pickerel. Nice to catch something in late November up here.

Like @NYWayfarer, I too caught a perch on Black Friday. The last 5 I’ve caught have been stuffed with craws

Perch were on the menu this weekend. My in-laws requested some as they are tired of Turkey leftover already. I was able to get some yesterday, in-between Pickerel bites.

I love it!  Had a successful fishing  trip with a beat up old lure that resulted in a fish fry.  Wonderful!

The slime rockets were slamming jerkbaits Friday.

Man they stock monster trout in your lakes!

These weren't even the real big ones. They drop some DD trout in occasionally. I've caught a few over 6lbs. One or two I caught Friday might have been over 5. I tried to measure the first one and it just went nuts, flopped all over my lap, it was a big male so of course it milted all over. Last time I tried to do any trout measuring for the day.

Still no Bass from shore since late October. It’s been all Yellow Perch and Chain Pickerel. In December it’s been all Chain Pickerel. I was blessed enough to catch this one today in the icy river waters dragging, dead sticking and shaking my Tiny Child Rig.

We’ve been creek chasing some browns the past week with the temps at 32-45. To cold for the kayaks out on the lakes. Pretty much all the same size 10-12” but I’ve seen two that are closer to 18”

I was called a cheater because we use spin rods with spinners
