I use a HDS7 during ice fishing season and I use a regular 12v and get about 6-8 hours of screen on time out of it. You can definitely power a HDS7 just fine off a 12v. Just don't expect it to last a 8+ hour session at full screen brightness. I carry two 12v's with me ice fishing and can get through an entire day no problem.

What is the capacity of your battery?

My Elite-7 Ti with Totalscan transducer drains my 12v 10ah battery in about 6-8 hrs. Depending on how bright I need to turn the screen up. This is with sonar and GPS constantly running. I’d expect the HDS-7 Carbon to drain the same battery in about half the time based on the specs I’ve found on both units. Unless, Lowrance’s listed specs for the HDS-7 Carbon are for the structurescan 3D bundle.

I ordered a 12v 12ah lithium battery on eBay to hopefully power my Elite-7 Ti a couple hours longer than my current SLA battery, which I’ll be bringing as a backup in case we’re out fishing on extended trips.

I'm doing the same thing with the 3 Waters Big Fish 105 yak.  $480 seems too good to pass up but I just don't know if I'll like yak fishing enough..

You really can't beat this kayak for the price. The 105 was my second choice to the nucanoe frontier 12. But shipped for $520, unreal. I pulled the trigger. I could buy 3 105s at this price point instead of a frontier 12.  Now I have a little play money to customize and spend on a good paddle.

One thing I noticed during the checkout was that they have two varieties of the 105 on the site.  The charcoal one does not qualify for discounts and there is a $125 freight fee. The green one rung up free shipping and discount eligible.  $520 is not bad to try out yaking, I figure I'll sell it if I find out I don't like it.  Now let's see if they actually ship it and don't cancel my order.

I'm just using the off-the-shelf 12v from Cabelas. I am just using an ice transducer which may require less power than a totalscan.

I picked up an Elite-7 Ti a couple months ago for a decent deal. I also thought that the 7 in screen would be overkill on my kayak but I can’t see myself using a smaller one now. It’s particularly useful for split screen applications or side scan imaging. I was tempted to upgrade to the Carbon when this overtons40 coupon popped up but you’d need a pretty big battery (20 ah at least) to power it all day per the specs.

I've been running a Garmin Echomap CHIRP 73sv on my kayak for a few years. I upgraded to a Echomap Plus 93sv this last fall and used it for ice fishing. I got plenty of battery life (8hrs+) out of a LiFePO4 10aH. I'm pumped to have the 9" screen on the yak this year.

I noticed that about the other color. Yeah it seems too good to pass up.

It won't let me apply OVERTONS40 to my cart any longer. It looks like it is dead. Is anyone else able to apply it?

The Overton's 25% off is still going. I wish they carried Dobyns rods.

I ended up ordering a Big Fish 105 for my brother. Fingers crossed we get a shipping notification and it shows up. Looking around online it seems like they are back ordered. I hope they don’t cancel the orders!

Kittery trading is doing 20% off gift cards until 5-12 ...they have a great selection of megabass lures

Do you know if you can use them instantly online or do you have to wait for the physical card to come in?

I’m not sure I work down the street from the store , they are always doing 15 or 20 off sales I think ktp15 is 15% off code right now. They’re customer service is awesome I’m sure they can give you an answer pretty quickly

I seen the 15% off but it’s not applying to the Daiwa Reel I’m interested in. I’ll give their customer service a call and see. If somehow we can do gift cards instantly, you can 20% on them and then 15% on some items to purchase which is 35%

thanks man

I recently purchased a Megabass rod from KTP and I was following the delivery online tracking.  The day it was "out for delivery", i got a notification from UPS that the rod was returned to sender due to damage (has not made it to me yet).  After calling around I got ahold of UPS local warehouse and talked to a lady asking about details as to why this occured, I told her there was a fishing rod inside.  She called me back after looking into it and she said the package was completely folded in 2 and the packaging material was "weak and flimsy with no support".  I called KTP talked with them about it, and they did refund me my money. They also did offer to send me another rod but i refused, mainly because of the description from UPS and didnt want to get another rod and have a broken guide or somethign an dhave to deal with back and forth etc due to lack of proper packaging. I was really excited to get this rod as I had an upcoming tournament I intended on using it for.  Very disapointed.
