I thought it would be a pretty great deal at that price. Stetson Blaylock uses them in the Elite Series (because of sponsorship).

 

But I just picked one up, and it's definitely not a smooth reel.

Cabelas has Shimano slx 7’ medium extra fast on sale for $49.99. Not bad. Rod is decent, I use it to jig for lake trout and walleye and such.

Strangely, all three gear ratios were different prices. The 7:1 was $77. The 8:1 was $83. And the 6:3 was $128.

 

Great deal for a reel that retails at $170.
