We have one fox in the area that makes occasional visits...no pics as I don't have a camera outside, but I've seen him/her infrequently.

We also don't have a rodent problem in our area.

Can you send Slash over here? I have a serious rabbit problem. Like in the hundreds.

Not sure how frequently fox prey on rabbits though. A full grown cottontail is probably a sizable meal for a red fox.

I don't know how much help Slash would be - we have the one fox around here (that I know of....might be more), and one morning I popped out the back door and there were 4 rabbits in my back yard alone and a couple next door. Bunnies breed so fast, I think they could keep ahead of a few foxes.

I don't think my wife would let me.

As for chow, we've seen him with squirrels, moles, mice, & flying squirrels, if you can believe that one.

But never a rabbit. We've seen the remains of successful kills but can't confirm who got it.

My guess is an Owl because the carnage is always discovered at first light

and there are never any "tracks" in the snow where it was carried out - so an airlift is suspected.

My dog used to be pretty good about chasing critters like this but Father Time has caught up.

Gram? Did you mean grains? 10 grams is almost 3/8oz

I know they're allergic to a .177 Crossman Copperhead 8 grain hitting 1000fps

I keep a pump up by the back door - local squirrels have pretty much learned to avoid my yard...and I've taken out the occasional rabbit after the first heavy frost to put in my pot.

Pic of my pond. You can't see it, but at the back of this bay is a little river that drains a bog about half a mile deep. You can see the weed beds that fill much of the bay. The shoreline holds bass in early summer and again in late summer into the fall, but right now, the bass are in weed beds farther from shore:

A couple of flicks I snapped returning from salmon fishing south of the Gate. The first is a picture of the North Tower, and what is kinda crazy to me is the pedestrian walkway allowing foot traffic between The City and Marin County. The other is “The Rock” with the fog breaking a bit and the South Tower in the background.

In the 1960's I was in a military police unit stationed at the Presidio, 6th Army Headquarters. My barracks overlooked the bridge and Alcatraz; patrol areas included both sides of the Bay; old memories for sure.

When I lived in San Fran and worked as a field mechanic the bridge authority was retrofitting the bridge for earth quakes where its anchored on each end, i was the tech in charge of all the heavy equipment they rented from us. It is amazing how the suspension cables are constructed and how they tighten that bridge up,

I got to know the big wigs in charge of bridge maintenance and was offered a full time job in the maintenance department, one of the jobs for newbies is the painting crew as painting never stops, scrape, wire brush, paint and climbing up the huge cables and towers painting them. I was not interested in painting even though it paid great money, I easily passed on the offer.
