It's pretty amazing how smart they are. Evey buck I got on camera last year was between midnight and 0500. The leaves change and almost like clock work the bucks go nocturnal.

Not just go nocturnal, they change in other ways as well. A state game biologist in PA placed collars on bucks and tracked them for months and it showed that during the time around deer hunting season in PA the deer spent most of the day hunkered down in the thickest, most remote parts of the area. Mostly the highest parts of mountains and in the heaviest briers and brush it could find. The biologist's advice for deer hunters was travel as far as you can away from roads and look in the most rugged off places.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere you go.....?

 

The view I had for 8 hours today. 

When a 200lb whitetail can walk across the water, you know it’s time to start thinking about winterizing the boat ( but not until next week when I’m done hunting).

Guess you could call this a major deer crossing. Takes lots of hooves to make that many marks on a rock.

Awesome...some day I may get a dog again...would hopefully be a golden.  Will see.  Was on the water yesterday....amazing when the temps in the 40's...mid 30's ....a little rain how you have the water all to yourself.   Never saw a boat all day....fishing was tough...but did get some.

I did a double take at this photo @12poundbass... if it wasn’t for the light dusting of snow on the ground, that would be smoke from the fire up in Paradise obscuring the tree line in the background....
