Fishing from the bow of your boat, ideally, would you like to fish a shoreline left to right or right to left?  Myself, I prefer left to right so I can side arm and roll cast without interference.  How about you?

We will assume no wind, no current etc. .... just my preference.

I'm kidding, I only fish team format tournaments anymore, so partner is usually up front with me, and has equal shot at targets.

Get off the banks...fish structure....lol. I usually go right to left to see my FF that swivels at the console.

Left to right. I prefer to cast off the port side in a deep-V single console and it makes netting easier between the guy in front and in back.

I'm always a non-boater so it makes no difference to me.  There are plenty of times when there are three of us in the boat and I'm in the middle.  I'm pretty versatile when it comes to casting.

Only when I'm fishing fast do I prefer to have my targets on the left side of the boat.

All things being equal (conditions wise), I guess left to right. Probably slightly more comfortable using my right foot to control the trolling motor, and I roll cast a lot, and have a smaller boat, so I have less stuff in the way.

 

I used to have a hand operated trolling motor with a long tiller extension and a big foot on/off switch. Great for boat control but man did I hit that thing with sidearm casts........

Right to left. I am left hand dominant and it is easier to control the trolling motor with my left foot. Also easier for me to cast holding the rod in my left hand when moving right to left.

Left to right, with the understanding that I will NOT hit the windshield!!!!  (Again)

I prefer to fish into the wind.

However depending on the 'Briskness" that particular day (or night),

I may have to cave and fish with it.

As for casting L or R - makes no difference.

My lack of accuracy & consistency is equal from both sides.

Ha! I used to have a fish and ski and I feel your pain. Soft plastics sticking to a windshield equals trophy backlash

I don't care which way, I'm comfortable either way.  Wind will determine which way I will be working.  I like to stay in stealth mode and off the trolling motor as much as possible.

Either way. And if there was only one thing I learned on Schooled by Denny Brauer, it's always fish into the wind.

This is all completely subjective. What do I see? Where's the wind? Am I alone in my boat? What am I throwing?

 

There is no concrete answer for me. Situation dictates and there is no right or wrong answer.

I probably fish equally either way. Never thought about it. I skip a lot , either backhand or forehand , when I'm alone.

When I'm with someone, I usually put them in front, so in that case I'd rather work right to left, esp. using bait casters.

With spinning gear , it doesn't matter.

Ha! And it was a lot better for skiing than Fishing 

I live the good life, when I fish out of a boat it is an 18ft John boat with a tiller trolling motor. I always fish up front with my buddy running the motor in the back. All I gotta do is fish. It doesn't matter to me either way. But usually we fish with the bank on the right side of the boat because that is the way the wind is blowing and it makes it easier for him to steer the boat. He does a great job of not back boating himself and catching plenty of big ones while wrestling the motor as well.
