I’m looking to try big worms for the first time. I also want to try fishing at night as the lake has been insanely pressured lately with fisherman and pleasure boaters, looking for a worm I can use at night and during the days for those big bites.  Anything 9 inches to probbsly 12 would be nice.  I do have one pack of black zoom ol monster but looking for other choices. Thank you 

I like the Culprit 9” Fat Max worm.

I use the zoom ol monster for a ribbon tail worm.

the magnum trick worm for a straight tail worm.

 

not sure why, but the trick worm often out fishes the ribbon tail around here.

The standby Berkley 10" ribbon tail in black w/blue flake.

My personal favorite is Uptons Customs 9" dragon tail and 13" straight tail in Midnight, Night stalker and black grape-blue neon vain.

I fish these with brass n glass (black brass 3/8 oz & black 1/2 tungsten bullet weight, 8mm black faceted glass bead)

9" and 10" worms with Owner 5/0 #5103, 13" with 6/0 #5132 screw lock Owner hook.

Zoom ol monster in black has been killing it at last light for me on the ponds.

The Anaconds and Ol Monster have plenty of action, but I’d recommend trying the Culprit Fat Max to start with. Fish tend to ball up long worms in their mouth and often times you’ll set the hook into the plastic, not the fish, if you’re not quick on the hook set.

The only big worm I've bought in the last 2 or 3 years is Zoom Ol Monster in California 420 color. Strange name, but that color works here.

I throw a plum apple ol monster and a cranberry yum 10" ribbontail. Its gotten lately where my partner and I throw a plum apple zoom mag 2 cuz the fish have seen so many big worms.

I’ll x2 the Berkley powerbait 10 inch as well.  I always try new products because it’s fun but I don’t think anything I’ve ever used has out-fished it.  Also a fan of the Owner Twistlock.  Great hooks and the worms seem to last longer with the screw lock.  The centering pin helps in rigging especially with thin/narrow plastics.

I would use black or black grape fishing at night.

I always go back to the 10.5" Yum Mighty Worm.

 

Heavy, easy to throw and about the only one bream will leave alone. I can't fish curly tail worms, waste of time really....

 

I do like Baby Hueys, but hard to find these days. Segmented worm, old school.

 

Berkley 12" are good, used them during spawn, not many bream around lol

I like the Zoom Ol Monster worms or the Mag 2 worms.

Ol Monster-Powerworm 10 inch- Fliptail 91/4 Big Daddy

I've settled on Berkley Powerbait 10" curly tails, Uptons customs straight tails, and Mann's Jelly Worms personally. I like straight shank worm hooks. Usually either 4/0 Roboworm rebarb hooks for thinner/softer worms (Uptons 9") or a 5/0 Gamakatsu straight shank for the bigger ones. For weight I go as light as I can get away with to keep it snag-free and maintain contact (heavier weight in heavy winds or fishing deeper). I'll use anything from a 1/2oz tungsten weight to as little as a single tungsten split shot 8-12" in front of the worm.

For me, it's Mann's jelly worms and Berkley power worms in the larger sizes.

THank you everyone! I think I have it narrowed down to berkley , mans jelly worm, and zoom ol monster. Probbsly eill gesb couple of each cant wait to use them and see if I can catch some decent fish 

I almost always use the 10'' Power Worm. I like Black w/ blue flake, watermelon w/ purple/red flake, then one of the red-ish colors like plum or cherry seed.

 

That being said, plenty of people seem to enjoy the Zoom Ol' Monsters, so they are worth a look. I also occasionally throw the 9'' fat max as well.

 

Really, the only (likely) significant differences between any brands in this 9 to 12 inch range is the thickness of the body, which can make a pretty big difference in how the profile is presented. Don't be afraid to throw big worms just about anywhere, I fish 99% Ohio lakes and have success (surprising at times) even on infamously tough inland lakes here.

Zoom Ole monster.  I just bought some Yum ribbontail.  Have not caught anything on plain purple gràpe Mann's.  I think glitter is important in dark or dirty water.
